LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Actress Nona Gaye has left the cast of NBC's "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" shortly after she signed on to play the new assistant district attorney.

Sources cited creative differences for Gaye's hasty exit, which occurred soon after production began on the crime drama's sixth season.

Gaye, the daughter of late soul icon Marvin Gaye, was quickly replaced by Theresa Randle, whose first day on the set is expected to be Tuesday. Her deal covers just three episodes, with an option to continue on the show as a regular.

The ADA role was played by Courtney B. Vance for the series' first five seasons.



Randle will co-star alongside Vincent D'Onofrio, Chris Noth and Kathryn Erbe as well as the other new cast additions for next season, Eric Bogosian and Julianne Nicholson.

In addition to Vance, Jamey Sheridan and Annabella Sciorra also exited the series after the end of last season.

"Criminal Intent" marks Randle's first major TV series commitment. On the big screen, she starred in the "Bad Boys" films, "Girl 6" and "Spawn."

Courtney left the show because he wanted to spend time with his wife Angela Bassett and their kids. Plus i guess it's hard for him to go to New York a lot to do the show when he lives in Los Angeles.

I didn't know Nona Gaye was on the show. I haven't seen any of the new episodes so i wouldn't have known she was on the show anyway. She's a beautiful woman and she kinda looks like her dad. That's good to hear that Theresa Randle replaced her. I like Theresa. I haven't seen her in a movie in a long time. She does straight to video movies now. Last movie i saw her in was Bad Boys 2. She is a cute and sexy woman. Did ya'll see the outfit she had on in Bad Boys 2 when she was in the kitchen at her and Martin Lawrence's house? I said wow. Her body is nice.

I never saw any quote from Courtney Vance saying that he wanted to leave L&O:CI. In fact I never saw a quote from anyone saying it was his idea.

I love the show and writing out Carver was a terrible idea. At this point they have no real DA at all. Maybe if CI makes it to season seven they might bring Carver back?
