Something I just noticed about the show is the apartment is in every episode. They are always in the same type of scenes. They went skiing and to the farm and camping, but nothing really more than that. They needed to leave the apartment more. Yeah, I'm surprised that they never had any scenes on the beach.
I'm sure there are some good scenes to do there.

So do you mention some other type of life besides the Reagle Beagle?

Doing scenes on the beach would've been hard, considering that the show was taped entirely indoors. The only times when the show was taped out of the studio was for the opening credits at the Santa Monica Pier & the LA Zoo. There were some incredible sets built in that studio though, including Cindy's Aunt Becky's farm (along w/ a few live animals) and a cabin w/ a lake outside in season 8.

GI was indoors, but that was the whole set too and not just a part of it. But who else agrees a lot more of the funny scenes happen out of the apartment.

I agree, I liked when they were at the Reagle Beagle

i find with threes company (and other tv shows) that the best episodes/scenes are done in the one or two central places. for instance, i like the threes comp apartment/regal beagle scenes much more than the cooking school/bistro/farm..whatever...scenes.

It's because the show focused on all of them being together. The only real time that happened was at the apartment.

"Why did they never leave the house on the Brady Bunch?"

"Why did they never leave the bar in Cheers?"

"Why did they never leave the island on Gilligan's Island?", etc. You get the idea.

Yep! TV producers are notoriously cheap and those big salaries for star actors don't leave a lot of money for sets that may never be used again. Most shows gravitate around one or two central sets.

Besides, when I think of a show that spent most of it's shows on one set, I tend to think of The Honeymooners. Many of the key scenes took place in Ralph Kramden's kitchen and that show is one of the best damn sitcoms of all-time.

They leave there house a lot more on the Odd Couple and The Brady Bunch than Three's Company. Also there places were bigger so we saw different rooms and such. Same with Gilligan, we saw different parts of the island. There apartment was not that big at all on TC. It is the same over and over. If they changed the set more over the 8 years I don't think it would be as much of a problem with me.

As for the Honeymooners, I don't get sick of that, but they go out a lot there too compared to TC.

All above answers have merit. I'll agree with the idea that too many scenarios would detract from the relationship between the three, which was, of course, the story.

As far as a reason within the context of the show, none of them had much money, so they couldn't afford to go out very often (other than the Beagle). Transportation was also a problem. With the exception of "Roper's Car" and when Janet bought a car, they didn't have transportation.

Regardless, I too would have loved to see some beach scenes. Seeing Joyce in a bikini once in a while would have really been nice...
