This was a great episode, no doubt. The one where Jan likes a boy at school, who likes Marcia because he sees Jan as "one of the guys." But I always thought it was a little contrived to state that Jan was a tomboy. I always thought Jan was the most feminine. She always had more "issues" than either of her sisters.

The first time I saw this as a kid I thought, Wait a minute! Hold on. Just what exactly is going on here? Jan's not like that. This isn't right! Somebody should do something. I've got issues with this characterization!

Of course I was just a toddler and didn't think in that language, but that's an equivalent interpretation of what I was feeling. Kind of like when Balaam's donkey spoke in the Bible.

Rich,

My "gaydar," even as a child, always went off when Jan was around, and does so, to this day, as Eve Plumb continues to do nothing to reassure her fans that she didn't absolutely loathe and regret her work on the Brady Bunch.

To me, she is the classic example of a closted, sexually-frustrated homosexual and her frustrations from a childhood spent playing the long- blond-haired, dress-wearing and girlish "Jan" clearly made their way into the scripts and, apparently into her seemingly detached attitute today.

"Jan" and Eve both had issues, all right. But, to me, they had nothing to do with overwrought femininity.

Not a chance. Eve and Chris were "gettin' it ONNN"** practically every chance they got.
