Alright maybe I should be thinking more positive here and I don't mean to start a panic in the streets but I'm starting to get a horrible feeling that this whole great new "I" (aka PAX) deal might be a bust......thanks Pav for your kind great updates and I know we are only hours away from knowing some type of schedule....but I am reading in between the lines and directly from the lines of the blog....and it seems now we are only getting a few shows at first and then as you say "hopefully by later in the fall the whole 6-11 block could be classic shows".....by then most of us wanted them to be programming classic shows at least 20 hours a day! I know that was certainly never promised, but to have access to two great television libraries and program 5 hours a day is just silly. Now I feel they will probably just start with 2 one hour dramas (not a particular fave of mine) and I just hope they don't become another Hallmark Channel.....I just had hoped they would start totally fresh. I suspect the movies have done reasonable well and they probably won't be dropped on the weekends taking up more precious potential sitcom time. Well we will know hopefully by Friday and by then I hope this post was just a waste of time, but I am worried, but of course have put it in its' proper perspective! It's only TV!

I tend to think you may be right. Who would expect TV to become THAT great over the course of a month. If i has access to now two libraries of wonderful classic shows, and only show 2 shows next month, that is nothing special. When I turn on TV, and browse through the weekend schedules, it's all reality crap that is very boring, unprofessional, and a waste of airspace.
Everyone is so very excited about this "so-called" new schedule, however it may be nothing. Everyone will be majorly disappointed if there are two shows on this schedule in August.

I won't say the new schedule is a bust before I even see it, but I'm a little annoyed.

I realize they have a commitment to air Paid Programming (or so I believe), and so they allot 6pm to 11pm as programming slots. Now come to find out, only a "few" shows will be added, out of two different libraries with probably two dozen shows they have access to. Yeah, that's pretty disappointing. And the thought that they "may" add more shows through to the fall is even more disappointing.

I knew I shouldn't of gotten my hopes up, but at the same time, I'm just thrilled to get whatever shows they toss on the air, and I'll just hope they expand more and more as the year progresses. But from another view-point, I think they are probably trying to slowly integrate the shows as they revamp the network. As much as all of us would love the network to go 24 hours (hell, even 12-14 hours would rock) and totally revamp right off the bat, realistically, it would be too much too soon.

Hopefully a rough schedule FINALLY comes out today or tomorrow. Three shows I want on the schedule regardless are The Wonder Years, Perfect Strangers and Alice. Of course I want others, but those three MUST be on the lineup, LOL.

I couldn't agree more, of the three potential sitcoms you mentioned I want "Alice" the most!

I'm torn between the three. It's been longer since Alice had been on TV, although episodes are streamed on In2TV ... as is Perfect Strangers. I really want The Wonder Years.

My thing for those three is that I can finally tape the episodes on DVD and not worry so much about official releases, although I'd prefer the official releases. I just hope "I" doesn't butcher the shows to death.

Wow are we on the same page...I too have the DVD recorder ready and have already printed the episode guides and picked which episodes I will record....I always prefer the official releases and know it would be very difficult and time consuming to record a whole series, so I make my own "best of" sets, I also collect holiday themed episodes and "Alice" has alot more than I first thought, 3 Christmas, 2 thanksgiving, 2 halloween, I believe, I don't have my list in front of me. The whole redone compressed credits bothers me as well as butchering, but of course it's better than nothing...... Well here's hoping we will not be disappointed!

Yeah. I think we'll get compressed credits as well. Hopefully the editing isn't TOO bad.

I have TiVo also, so it makes it easier for me to store episodes to put on DVD, but I end up falling behind and some get deleted ... lol. But I'm gonna try.

I'm currently working on S2 of Murphy Brown and S1 of Step by Step. I tried to do Benson but with TV Land's screwed up times, it was near impossible with TiVo to save any episodes. I might try 227 again from TVOne, since I believe it's uncut.

Anyway ... lol, back on topic.

I'll have the reason why only a few shows at start on the news blog tomorrow. The schedule will be released then, too (and no I don't have it right now). Stay tuned later today for a little note on the blog for more.

Well, before the schedule is released, I figured I'll post a prediction.

Pav has said only a few shows will debut and the entire 6pm-11pm WONT be ALL Sony/WB shows, so, here's what I think will happen.

Again it's what I *think* will happen.

6pm will stay Bonanza
7pm will be Sony/WB
8pm will be Sony/WB
9pm will be Sony/WB
10pm will stay Diagnosis Murder

My hope is that each hour block has two half hour shows and not an hour of one show, which would only give us three shows. I also have a feeling a drama might pop in, which limits the room for a sitcom.

We'll see later today if I'm close.

Whats wrong with the Hallmark channel?...They have some half way decent show on like Walker and didn't I see Touched By An Angel on there and also Matlock....For a channel on Basic Cable you really can't complain.

Well I usually like to write well thought out and educated posts.....but the just announced schedule changes are to say the least "extremely disappointing" and so far the thread title I started is very accurate.

First let me say I Love "Green Acres" (that's why I own the first 3 seasons on DVD) and even though I am not a fan of "Mama's Family" I have to support it because it is a sitcom.....BUT.......

it seems the good old programming folks at "I" are already becoming "Viacom"ized....meaning they are taking a "very commerical and safe approach" to their schedule by adding two shows that have had national runs....."Green Acres" is already on TV Land and just didn't muster enough ratings to stay at 6:30PM, so of course 7:00PM is so dramatically different and "Mama" just or will be ending its TBS run. Again I love "Green Acres" but where was this choice, it wasn't even in the original release.

I just wish some network would have some b*lls and try broadcasting shows that don't have recent ratings to look at! I can see the folks at "I" looking at TV Land/TBS ratings and saying those would be good for us...there is no recent national ratings data for shows like "Alice", "Perfect Strangers", etc, so no one gives them a shot...

well I'm anxious to see what my fellow friends and posters are saying, but I am convinced so far this is horrible! Believe me I really was excited about this and wanted to give it FULL SUPPORT...I have been talking this up for weeks now. I will post again later as soon as the shock subsides....

It is a good move because Green Acres and Mama's Family can probably help launch this. They will add new shows each month. They have a contract to air Family Feud, I believe, so they can't replace it just yet. I'm sure we will see Alice, Perfect Strangers by at least November. They have much more shows than that of listed in the press release, which is good I think.

Green Acres is no longer on TV Land at 6:30pm. It is just mornings.

Hey Pav, I believe you misread the above, my point is TV Land just cancelled the 6:30PM airing because as you stated in another thread, the ratings were so-so.....to me it's odd that "i" would schedule it at a similar time period.

I am in no means "shooting the messenger" here, but this programming deal had very high expectations from many true classic TV lovers here and I know this is hopefully only the beginning, but if the programming folks at "I" are starting this cautious, then we could be looking at the potential of shows being cancelled after a week if they don't perform, I was just hoping for some less commercialized scheduling.

It seems they are going after middle america with these country type shows (which I support) but adding "Petticoat Junction" would have done the same thing and added alot more excitement to viewers by giving us something we haven't seen for awhile!

I'll correct myself before someone else does, I believe "Petticoat Junction" is Paramount, but my point is the same.

I think whenever Bonanza leaves, they will stop Green Acres...just my opinion. Bonanza into Green Acres has a good flow. Their focus will be eventually 70s-90s shows I hear.

I love Green Acres & Mama's Family but ugh. They did what I thought they would. And Green Acres is a huge surprise though.

Sigh. I understand why they did what they did, but couldn't they have picked shows that AREN'T airing elsewhere? That's why I'm pissed.

Maybe September we will see shows that are not airing anywhere. August is really a slow month for TV, so maybe they are waiting for the fall to air the seldom seen stuff.

I hope so. LOL. I knew I shouldn't expect much but I'm REALLY bummed. And of all the 60s shows they pick Green Acres? I guess, again, I was hoping for shows not actually airing elsewhere.

I also hope they drop the double takes if they continue to just use the 6pm-11pm slot. Although I wouldn't mind the doubletakes for a show like Alice, or Perfect Strangers, because of the ton of episodes they have. I knew I shouldn't of hoped for those two first, LOL.

I wish they would show family ties.
