View Full Version : The Three's Company Couch
CM1124 07-26-2006, 04:10 AM Just finished watching Richard Kline's commentary on the Season 7 DVD (very good by the way)! He mentioned that the famous couch/sofa from Three's Company is in some Smithsonian-affiliatated museum in Burbank, CA, that is only open on Tuesday evenings! I have searched online for this museum, and for the life of me cannot find it. Has anyone been to the museum, or know what it is called? Any information would be appreciated, as I'd love to check it out!
Thanks! :)

That would be cool if it was in the Smithsonian though! ;)
gilligan fanatic 07-26-2006, 11:08 AM I am sure it has been misplaced lost or thrown away over the years. For the record though when M*A*S*H ended they had a whole exhibit on it.

Yeah that would be pretty cool. ;) Heck, even if it made to The Museum of Television and Radio. That would be cool too.
TVFactFan 07-26-2006, 08:06 PM The couch should have been in a musuem since it was on Two TV Shows-Sanford and Son and Three's Company

I didn't know that. Why would an NBC couch be on an ABC show?
Ireneparalegal 07-26-2006, 08:08 PM There were two different couches featured on Three's company...so why would they save one couch over the other? It's not like it was Archie's chair, which never changed and IS IN FACT at the Smithsonian Institute.

I liked the first one so much better. The second one was uglier, I didn't think it was possible-lol

I know, surprising-lol The Three's Company Couch was first seen on a season 6 ep of Sanford and Son. It was in Lamont's Girlfriend House

hmm, maybe it just looks similar. There are a ton of ugly couches in the world-lol I almost bought Sanford and Son season 6 when I bought TC the other day. Wish I had now, I would take a closer look at the couch. I am assuming you have Season 6, what is in that book that came along with the DVD?

Yeah, I remember seeing it on Sanford and Son, too.
Billy K. 07-27-2006, 12:22 PM Also during that piece of commentary Richard Kline states the couch was there for the whole run of 3's Co. Of course he was incorrect. Remember when they got a new couch in the last season???

For the record the episode when they get the new couch was the first episode I saw way back in 2000 on TNN.

I guess he must have been! But with that sly, dry sense of humor of his it's damn hard to tell either way!

 Yeah, I'll admit, he had me going until he mentioned it being in the back of Bob's Big Boy.

I remember that episode. I watched it last year on TVLand. It's called the Money Machine.
Jack goes to an ATM machine and the machine goes haywire and spits out all of the money on Jack. He tries to get it back to the bank, but the bank is closed. Janet suggests that he hide it in the couch, which, incidentally, gets takes away by Furley who wants to put in a new couch!
Billy K. 07-28-2006, 08:59 AM as I stated in my previous post above.
RE: I was just stating that that's what Richard Kline had stated during the commentary in one of the episodes on the new DVD.
You just mentioned the fact that there was 2 couches. Not that RK stated only one couch.
