Ok, Alice washes Tiger in the episode when Jan has a supposed allergy to Tiger...Alice states he is going to get the best bath that he has ever received, words to that effect. Then, there is another episode, which I can't recall, where this same scene was used, it was used as a filler...I believe Alice said something abt "I need to see a dog abt a bath" then a few minutes later we see Alice bathing Tiger and it is that same scene from the allergy episode. I am sorry if this has been brought up before. Does anyone know what other episode this scene was shown in?

Yes!

Both "54-40 and Fight" and "Katchoo!" have the same stockpile footage of Alice giving Tiger a bath. The only difference is in one episode (can't remember which) a post-production line is said by Ann, "You're getting the floor all wet!." Otherwise, it is the same scene.

Most likely to save production costs, Sherwood remembered that he had the "Katchoo" footage during "54-40 and Fight's" filming. Since the storyline would not have been different had they reshot Tiger's bath scene., they just inserted it logically where it would have gone.

The same stockpile footage (very old and cheesy looking) is also used for the school auditorium in "Vote For Brady" and "Her Sister's Shadow."

Yeah, that always cracked us up! How OLD is that footage anyway? The quality of the film is TERRIBLE compared to the surrounding footage of the episodes being filmed!

I would always look at the same damn person in the front row, some guy with a white shirt, dark pants and has his legs crossed at the ankles...LMAO!!!!!! I think he even turns to the person next to him.

Yeah I agree about the auditorium footage. There is another one they reused and it was the footage about the cars and stuff...

You know, I don't even think that footage was filmed in conjunction with any Brady Bunch episode because of it's poor quality. It's almost like it's footage that Paramount tossed away that some other producer or director didn't want from some other show and they archived it. Sherwood probably decided to look for stockpile footage of a school auditoriam with people clapping for 10 seconds and lucily found it. Cuz from a production standpoint, why be forced to seat a bunch of extras and have them clap for a 10-second scene? I wonder how Robert Reed felt about this!

Yeah, I never thought that this footage was shot for the Brady Bunch... stock footage is pretty easy to spot...

And you're right, Sherwood probably didn't want to get a roomfull of kids to shoot the 10 second applause scenes.

I love the fact that when the Honor Society teacher announces that an error was made in scoring, the 'buzzing' of the audience sounds like a bunch of adults.

And I'm sure Robert Reed probably cringed every time he saw that stock footage...particularly since he must have known that we fans of the show would easily be able to tell how utterly phony that footage is! And he was such a stickler for realism!

He probably went around scouting nearby buildings looking for an auditoriam, mad at Sherwood for using such a "flawed" old picture! No offense to the great Robert Reed, who was a master of the actor's art. But we know how flawed that shot is!

The irony is that that "Her Sister's Shadow" is my #1 Brady episode along with "Bobby's Hero" for writing and content. Jan's moment of sacraficing her Honor Society award is so beautiful and so moving that tears emerge from Eve's face during the sequence. Then they shift to that poor stock footage. It didn't "kill the moment" for me or anything like that. In fact, I didn't even think about it as stock footage because the scene is so brilliantly done otherwise that the old footage is forgotten. Considering budget restraints and time involved, you have to wonder IF they even considered finding a building and having extras for that scene.

I agree with you totally on the writing/content of that episode... excellent post

Well, they have used the same shot for a building for different things. Didn't they use the building where Mike works as a store and stuff?

You hit it right on the head, Jack. The "you're getting the floor all wet!" line was definitely dubbed in post-production when the scene was re-used in 54-40 and Fight. My guess is that they were looking for a reason for have a pile of trading stamps disappear mysteriously (setting up a "boys vs. girls" argument), then thought AHA!... we have this "Tiger getting a bath" footage from Katchoo!, let's dub in an additional line, stick a bunch of stamps on Tiger and Presto!!!

More headaches and heartburn for Robert Reed as well!!!! LOL!!! I can hear him now:

1.) "Well how did those stamps get on the dog in the first place? What an assinine concept!!!!"

2.) We just DID this scene with "Katchoo", everyone's going to notice this!!!

3.) "This is the kind of slapstick that is destroying this show!!! Reshoot the bath scene or I walk out of here!!!"

Sherwood: "Bob, we can't, we don't have time. Why don't we have Alice add-lib a line than it will be something different."

Reed: "Oh, I guess we could do that." (walks away rolling his eyes and moaning.)
