I was thinking about this when reading the stepping on toy thread.

I remember one time at work in front of 2 execs I was helping put up a Christmas tree and stood up and carved my back on a display rack. When the receptionist asked me if I was okay all I could come up with was ...

Hurts.... so... bad.... when ... you ... can't ....swear.

Same with hurting yourself in front of kids, gotta hold it in and it hurts. I think the outburst helps you get the pain out.

Swearing is like instant Ibuprofen. Plus, it's free.

Of course. Every month when my little "friend" visits me...I feel like the only way to deal with it is to be able to say a few choice words here and there. That's how my BF knows it's THAT TIME OF THE MONTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Emotional pain feels better when you curse too. I'm ashamed to say this, but every now and then I'll scream the f word as loud as I can when I'm angry or depressed, and it always makes me feel better when I do.
