I could be wrong but i think that eric monte and mike evans should have made good times like a drama series, i no that the show came from lears all in the family trace, but if you look at the series as a hole the evans family was always in a delima episode after episode so i think that a drama series would have been better doing a comedy series based on the lifesyle of the ghetto and seeing a family like the evans poor and still struggling to make ends meat isn't really funny look at soul food, its was greate in the movies and look how it turned out as a showtime drama, i believe that eric mike and lear would have made good times for the first time in tv history the first drama show

It worked well as a comedy, so there was no need for it to be a drama.
