View Full Version : Why are we on Earth for?
Warm & Fuzzy 07-23-2006, 11:04 AM What do you think is our purpose of living, if we're all going to die, anyway?
I think we all live to help each other out...
A very wise friend (former Social Worker) told me that. My thoughts about suicide has never been the same since. I think she saved my life, and made me a better person. :)
(Note: I'm not thinking about killing myself, I'm just wondering what your inputs are in regards to our exsistence).
swedeace 07-23-2006, 11:13 AM Wow.... this could lead into a topic filled with personal beliefs that might clash with one another (depending on how people respond, etc). Let's see how this thread will turn out.
But anyway... I think we are all here to learn to survive and experience things in our lifetime: the good and the bad. In the process, we learn how to interact with other humans.

Sharop 07-23-2006, 01:23 PM Here's a quote from the first Conversations With God book:
God: There is only one purpose for all of life, and that is for you and all that lives to experience fullest glory.
I also think we're here to have some fun. And to be nice. And to grow (when I say grow, I say spiritually.) Even those people that are not religious, I think they still grown spiritually. It's possible to be spiritual without being religious.

Yes, we are here to help others (each other).
Also to love and a desire to learn.

Lex Luthor 07-23-2006, 05:33 PM I believe we are here to learn life lessons (compassion, loyalty, friendship) and it is like school, we keep coming back till we get it right. I believe in "old souls" , people who have learned almost everything and graduate to a higher plane of existence.

Yeah, I think Sharop pretty much summed up my feelings on this question. I think we're here to do some good in this world, and to have some fun while we're here, too. You never know how long you have, so I think you're expected to make the most of the time you have and enjoy it.
Wow, who knew I could be so deep? hehe
