I cant remember the kids name fully I think his 1st name was phillip, I know his parents were doctors, he was traveling either from alaska to the continental us or the other way around to go to school and he had to travel through canada and he picked up this hitchiker at a place called the 100 mile flat cafe in canada, the creep he picked up mudered him and took his car, well the car broke down and this local guy gave him a tow and let him stay in his basement for the night, the next day the murderer tried to trade the car for an airplane ticket but was unsucessful because the person interested wanted to go through customs, I remember they interviewed the cafe owners and the 1 owner siad I remember thinking when he picked this guy up that he would regret the day he did it, does anyone know if this was ever solved?
My cousin has been to canada many times and when he seen the story he said he didnt think it would get solved because canadians do not investigate murders of americans with too much enthusiasm.

I'm familiar with this case, and I don't think they have ever found the hitchhiker who Philip picked up.
So sad.

You also have to keep in mind that there's been no hard evidence of the body, right? And no one would know whose jurisdiction it would be in. I guess it was implied that the murder would've taken place in Canada (it's been two months or so since I've seen it), but still...
I guess the RCMP would be more enthusiastic about murders of Canadians -- and not cold ones, at that. If somebody found the body, obviously the investigation will heat up.
It's sad, I agree.

His name was Philip Frazier. I thought he was Canadian and was on his way to the US to attend college but I may be mistaken.

I just put it on out of curiosity... He was from Anchorage to go to school in Washington, and was going through the Yukon. The hitchhiker had Canadian money.

Got to correct myself here... They did find the body.
And the name was spelt "Fraser" in the episode.
