Take the kids on the honeymoon? I know they felt guilty about yelling at them at the wedding, but, the honeymoon is a time for the newlyweds to be ALONE. They could have just called and talked to the kids instead of running home.

Normally that would be true. But in this case it was not just the man and wife. It was their kids too. It was actually kind of cruel to abandon the children right after they got married. A honeymoon was the "expected" thing to do, but not the wise thing.

Yes, you're right... it would have been ridiculous to throw kids at that age together and then just take off and leave them with the housekeeper (whom the girls hardly knew at all)...
When you consider that Carol couldn't even enjoy an evening out at a nice restaurant just because Cindy had the sniffles (and this was a year or two later), it's hard to believe that she'd dump her kids with the new maid to go off with Mike for who-knows-how-long...

Hmm, I wonder if they could have had the honeymoon a month later. By then, the kids would have some time to get used to their new siblings and Alice and adjust to the new family.
