I just submitted an on-line application to work for the State of Kansas as a Health Facility Surveyor (inspection of nursing homes; making sure regulations are followed and that our elderly are treated with dignity and respect).
This is my second attempt at this job (position just re-opened again)--I really want it!
I'm currently a nurse at a nursing home; I love taking care of elderly people but there are VERY few benefits here, plus the state job will pay more!
Maybe the good thoughts from a few people will drift over to the state agency through some sorta karma, or something! LOL!

Good Luck :)
Every place I've applied for has rejected me

Good Luck. Someone should get a job around here. No one else can seem to. O_O I don't know who is actually getting all these jobs, but it's no one I know, myself included.

I'm dredging up an old thread because.........I GOT THE JOB!
See , I knew there was some good mojo around here!
I've tried for this job for 2 years now. I have 2 more weeks there at my current job... I hate where I am currently working; no paid holidays, no sick days paid, very little vacation, I had to do the job of 2 or 3 people, and the morale is constantly very low with a high turnover. (I was an MDS coordinator nurse at a nursing home). I finally feel like I have a REAL job now! Thanks for the good wishes!

Awesome! Persistence and experience will get you far! That is an honorable job to have, and as you probably know first hand, those homes are not always up to any kind of acceptable standards.
May you find fulfillment!
