For me I did not see the wedding episode, the 1st episode I seen was the christmas ep where carol loses her voice, I was just a little kid I think I was 8 years old and cindy was the first BB character id ever seen, however I did see it in its 1st run. allso for the 1st time about 10 years ago I heard that the brady bunch was not that popular in 1st run episodes and I was amazed at hearing that, considering its 1 of TVs most popular shows ever.

I have no idea. I sort of remember the first Gilligan's Island, but not Brady Bunch.

I think it's because, as a very young child, the show doesn't automatically stand out or attract you. It's not fun or zany enough.

A better title for this interesting thread would be:

"When did you start watching Brady Bunch?" For me, I have no memory of the orginal run, but started watching the show in the second syndication cycle. This would be around early 1975, They used to run the show on weekends, specifically Saturday morning in my area.

I remember sleeping over at my grandparent's house and watching Saturday's from 10:30 AM-11:00 AM. A couple of things that stick out:

The Intro Bumber Music and Brady's on the staircase were still intact at the beginning of each episode on Seasons 1 and 2. (Can only be seen on the DVD's now)

One of the kids whom the story line was about saying, "The Brady Bunch Will Return in a Moment" between the ending of the episode before the tag and a commercial. But WHAT WAS SHOWN ON THE SCREEN DURING THIS TIME? I can't remember.

For the most part, I thought the show was uncut, but I learned that about one minute had been cut from each episode as early as the first syndication cycle. I remember a few "cut scenes" that now are only on the DVD:

Alice telling Greg about moving a chair into Mike's den in "Our Son The Man": "Greg, if your father catches you with that chair you won't be doing any sitting." Also, Alice getting stuck in the sleeping bag as Cindy tries to warn her about the bag's stuck zipper

Bobby and Cindy's request to swim naked in the neighbor's pool in "Goodbye Alice Hello," (It took me awhile to remember what epside this scene was a part of.)

A couple of restored scenes on the DVD that I have NO RECOLLECTION OF: (That you can't see ANYWHERE ELSE)

Greg simulating a driving test for Alice in the beginning of "The Wheeler Dealer."

Bobby and Peter selling Family Night Frollic Tickets door to door in "The Show Must Go On?"

The boys simulating the motion of a boat for Alice with chairs and a balance beam in the beginning of "Coming Out Party."

Extended scenes of Jan and Cindy looking for Marcia in "Father of the Year."

Tons of extended park scenes in "Cincinnati Kids"

Extended very funny scene with Peter bugging Greg about his detective kit in "The Great Earing Caper."

Funny, that's the last episode of The Brady Bunch that I remember seeing that I didn't remember having seen before. I may have seen it when it was first-run on ABC, though I was 5 yrs. old when ABC last reran it for Christmas 1970. I first remember seeing it on WTBS on Dec. 22, 1989. I remember the date since it was a Friday afternoon and I'd gotten home from work early as I was about to take the next week off for Christmas.

I also remember seeing "A Fistful of Reasons" not knowing how it would turn out. When Mike was talking w/ Buddy Hinton's dad and his dad was taking offense, I was expecting Mike to end up w/ a black eye to match Peter's. I also didn't see the pilot ep for years, so I thought that "A Clubhouse Is Not a Home" was the premiere ep, since it showed the families moving in together.

I don't remember which ep was the first I ever saw, since I was likely watching it when I was too young to remember which specific eps I was seeing. Funny that I have 4 siblings very close in age to the Brady actors (My oldest sister is exactly two weeks older than Barry Williams, and my next sister is exactly one month younger than Maureen McCormick, for example.), but I'm the only one among us who ended up being a Brady fan.

my first one was the first season one where Marcia (I think it was her) wrote to a newspaper advice columnist about something-I forget all the details-and she lied about something, and the woman came over to their house-that's about all I remember of it.

Anyway, I saw it when the show first aired on ABC in 1969.

Treky, I think you are confusing "Dear Libby" and "Father of the Year."

In "Dear Libby," the Brady kids discovered an opinion piece in the local paper about a merged family of three sons and three daughters (like the Bradys!). The kids went to great lengths to make sure the parents did not see this thinking they were the ones that wrote it, but ultimately "Libby" came over to the house to announce that said opinion piece was from someone in Kingsford, Illinois--wherever that is! I know of Rockford, but not Kingsford!

In "Father of the Year," Marcia wrote an essay about Mike for a contest. She snuck out in the middle of the night to put it in the mailbox, and Mike punished her. (Aside: She could have waited until the morning to mail it; it would have reached its destination at the same time if she had done that! That's one problem I had with the episode, and I wonder if Robert Reed did too given his obsessions with reality!)

thanx!!

About all I remember about "Dear Libby" is the scene where she came over to the house and the kids were all hiding behind the drapes, etc.

I remember when they started showing the reruns in sydnication, and a local station in my area showed a promo for it, where they showed that scene without sound while the announcer "introduced" them all.

I specifically remember watching the ep, "A Camping We Will Go," in the first run in fall, 1969. But that is the only ep I can remember watching for all the original network run of the series. As I have explained elsewhere on this board, we had just one television back then, and TBB was not what we watched in that time slot on Friday nights. But I don't remember how I happened to have seen that one ep in the first season; yet it was an introduction to what the show as about, as I remember Carol telling the girls, "...now if these boys are now your brothers and we are all a family-- if they like to go for an annual camping trip, we are going to learn to like camping, too" [that's certainly not verbatim]. So I knew from that night onward what the show was about, but I never watched it otherwise until ABC started showing it on weekday mornings after 3 or 4 seasons.

I saw it from the beginning, even seeing the promo buildup weeks before. Friday nights were big in our house; kids ruled, one TV, no remote. We were allowed to stay up to see the Brady Bunch, Nanny and the Professor and the Partridge Family. Every single Brady Bunch episode was engraved in our brains.
