Got the email this morning... glad to hear, although I wasn't too surprised that it was announced so quickly.

What I hope is that they put out ALL the seasons... we're still anxiously awaiting S6 and S7 of "The Golden Girls." That started off hot and fast, and has tapered off... so I hope it will be completed.

LOVE THE INFO ON TVSHOWSONDVD.COM & BEYOND THE FACTS OF LIFE. HOWEVER, WHOEVER SAID THAT SEASON 3 & 4 WOULD BE TOO MUCH TO PACKAGE TOGETHER BECUASE YOU'D HAVE 50 1/2 HR EPS, DO NOT KNOW TRUE FACTS OF LIFERS. WE WANT OUR FACTS!!!! THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS TOO MUCH FACTS OF LIFE!!! BELIEVE ME, IF THEY WERE TO PACKAGE 2 SEASONS OR MORE AT A TIME, WE WOULD BUY THEM!! AM I RIGHT OR WHAT, FELLOW FACTS FANS?

YOU KNOW, WE HAVE TO GIVE OURSELVES A BIG KUDOS, TOO, BECAUSE SONY IS PLANNING ON RELEASING THE DVD BASED ON THE SALES. SO, WE APPEARENTLY ALL PUT OUR MONEY WHERE OUR MOUTH IS, AND I'M SO HAPPY FOR ALL OF US; AND TO BE PART OF PROOF THAT FACTS OF LIFE HAS STAYING POWER IS PRICELESS:)

are we so sure that that is TRUE information? Beyond the facts of life site has released news before that was false about the release of the dvd's. They also had the news AFTER tvshowsondvd.com did about the first dvd set... I guess i just am not too sure if this is a VALID statement considering that tvshowsondvd.com didn't even go to sony to ask about it...

Let me get this straight. The first news of the the first DVD release came from Beyond the Facts of Life. However, it wasn't until later that tvshowsondvd.com confirmed the news. There was nothing false about the release of the dvd's. Beyond the Facts of Life said that it will be a set of seasons 1 & 2 and it was said it was TENTATIVELY scheduled for June. Meaning, Sony was still considering the time frame of the release. Later when it was reported on tvshowsondvd.com, a Sony rep confirmed it would be earlier.

Besides, the news of the second release has not been confirmed. So, of course it can't be valid. It is a prediction.

Hi all,

It's good to be back! I haven't posted on here since the FOL was still on Nick at Nite! I have already purchased the S1/S2 combo and like all of you I am waiting for S3. I now work at Tower Records and according to their database the FOL S3 will be released October 24th! The database says it will be a 3 disk pack. I'll keep you updated if anything changes.

I think that a Database is a schedule for upcoming releases but I thought Tower Records only sold music.

anyone know how far in advance a studio announces its releases??

I think they keep secrets for a long while. Paramount has "boxes" according to an article from a while back on TSoD that they make for the possible DVD releases and when they have news, they put the news in the empty box. I believe there is still a box for THE ODD COUPLE (which is being released by rival TimeLife this coming Friday) and FAMILY TIES. I guess they have general ideas well over six months in advance on what they want to release in a given timeframe.

TSoD is currently reporting a October 24th release for FOL's third year. It will be a little less expensive this time around: $29.95 for 24 Season Three episodes. I'm still actually on the fence about the first release (I still don't have it), as the list price throws me off. I'm not really what you'd call a diehard fan, but I like it's predecessor (Strokes) and I do really enjoy the later episodes alot better than the earlier ones. If anybody ever sees a bargain on this set, you know like somewhere below $25, please let me know!

ohhh Saaaanta.... i know what i want for Christmas.....

i disagree with the idea that releasing similar shows on the same day will improve sales - a lot of people are NOT going to spend the extra dough all at once and will be forced to choose, which hurts those first week sales numbers, which is apparently the ONLY thing that retailers look at (if it dont sell a certain percentage in the first week they pull em off the shelves and cll it a failure)

the ONLY way that i would think that tieing release dates together would be if they gave you a DISCOUNT for buying the two shows at the SAME TIME. (c'mon throw us a bone here you greeedy buggers0

I believe Amazon.com is selling it for $20.99 (as a pre-order rate)! So that would save you about 9 bucks!

Sony will have the official announcement on Monday about season 3 and the cover art. I wish they would release the third season of Diff'rent Strokes, since the two shows are spin-offs.

Tower Record's database is the system employees at the store use to search for inventory.

Also to answer another question Tower Records sells more than music. At our store we sell CDs, DVDs, magazines, toys/collectibles, box sets (movies and music), posters, sodas, and candy.

I will check the database tomorrow for the DS information.

I'm glad the S3 news has been backed up by other sources as well!

Peekskill citizen: any other cool sitcoms coming in November or December?

Press release:
You Take the Good, You Take the Bad,

You Take Them Both and There You Have …
THE FACTS OF LIFE:
THE COMPLETE THIRD SEASON
Emmy® Nominee Charlotte Rae, with Nancy McKeon, Lisa Whelchel,
Kim Fields, and Mindy Cohn Return to DVD October 24

CULVER CITY, CALIF. (August 14, 2006) – Blair, Jo, Tootie, Natalie and Mrs. Garrett return to DVD on October 24 when Sony Pictures Home Entertainment debuts The Facts of Life: The Complete Third Season. The three-disc set of 24 episodes from the popular, long-running series tackles issues that still face teenagers today: alcohol, romance, competition, and breaking the rules. As Mrs. Garrett, the ultimate den mother, Charlotte Rae was nominated for an Emmy® for her work in this season. The set will be priced at $29.95 SRP.

The Facts of Life also stars Lisa Whelchel (Where the Red Fern Grows) as Blair, the snooty rich girl who ultimately demonstrates that she’s not as perfect as she appears; Nancy McKeon (TV’s “The Division”) as Jo, the rebellious girl from the wrong side of the tracks who frequently shows a softer side beneath her hard shell; Mindy Cohn (TV’s “The Help”) as Natalie, the perky comedienne in the group who always has a funny line in any situation; and Kim Fields (TV’s “Living Single”) as Tootie, the youngest member of the group who often gets herself into trouble over her love of spreading gossip.

The Facts of Life first aired on NBC August 24, 1979, as a spin-off from the network’s culturally popular sitcom “Diff'rent Strokes,” lasting 9 seasons and 209 episodes. After its somewhat slow start, The Facts of Life found its niche and became a success, ultimately becoming one of the longest-running sitcoms on television, despite numerous timeslot changes over the course of its run.

The third season finds the characters in myriad dilemmas: Tootie (Fields) gets drunk for the first time, as well as developing a crush on her favorite singer (Jermaine Jackson of “The Jackson 5); Natalie (Cohn) gets mugged after coming home from a party and develops a fear of going outside; Jo (McKeon) falls out of love with her fiancée (played by ‘80s heartthrob Clark Brandon) and in love with the man who’s playing her husband in a simulated marriage project for a class; Blair (Whelchel) learns her grandfather is a member of a Ku Klux Klan; and Mrs. Garrett has her hands full when she rekindles an old romantic fling.

Wow, I came back from vacation to see this! It really must have surprised Sony with how well it sold if they aren't even waiting until holiday season to release S3. Makes me think the fourth season won't be far behind.

However, with the rushing it out I think we are going to get jipped on the special features. Somehow I doubt we are getting any.

I wonder if the girls will get to promote it again though.

I just recieved the first box set last saturday for my birthday (not even opened yet) and am glad to see the wait for the third season won't be that long. Though, I would prefer to have the third season of Diff'rent Strokes.
