I noticed something very odd about last night's episode, when Marilyn came to the door and said "I'm Marilyn Munster." If she is supposedly Lily's niece, how would her last name be Munster? Just an observation.

I think Marilyn said that they had raised her since she was a little girl. In a sense they adopted her and she was part of the family, so she took the Munster name.:) Ireneparalegal 07-19-2006, 04:47 PM I noticed something very odd about last night's episode, when Marilyn came to the door and said "I'm Marilyn Munster." If she is supposedly Lily's niece, how would her last name be Munster? Just an observation. She is also Herman's niece...hence, his brother would be her father. clj2 07-19-2006, 05:07 PM I thought she was Lily's niece? I must be getting senile, lol! comedyfreak 07-20-2006, 09:11 AM No, she is Lilly's Niece and Herman's by marriage. In the first episode Herman clearly told Lilly, "she's your sister's kid" or words to that effect. Then he said, "no one in my family looked like that". As a matter of fact, it sounded like Herman didn't care for her that much in the beginning. clj2 07-20-2006, 10:36 AM Herman was strange in the earlier episodes - he wasn't so childlike and expressive as he was in the later part of Season one and season two. comedyfreak 07-20-2006, 11:44 AM yeah, he was more serious and scary. You could tell the difference between him from the beginning of Season 1 and the end of season 1. By the second season he had really changed and was child like. inspector_jack 09-29-2006, 02:39 PM they adopted her legally changing her last name to Munster Mrs. Periwinkle 09-30-2006, 02:45 PM they adopted her legally changing her last name to Munster Yeah, that's what I've always thought. And, Lily and Herman had been married for a LONG time, so they probably both adopted her when she was just a little girl and she took Herman's last name. Adamantium 09-30-2006, 07:28 PM That's always been an issue with me, about Marilyn's last name being Munster. Them adopting her and giving her the name Munster works for me. That seems like the logical reason. What gets me, is why people call Grandpa, "Grandpa Munster." He certainly isn't a Munster, because he's Lily's father. Like in cast lists, they'll say "Al Lewis as Grandpa Munster" or whatever. Only Herman and Eddie are true Munsters. Lily became a Munster when she married Herman. Marilyn became a Munster when Herman and Lily adopted her. And Grandpa will never be a Munster. He just lives with them. Mrs. Periwinkle 09-30-2006, 08:36 PM Hmm, I never really thought about that! Maybe Grandpa wanted to leave his Dracula days behind and adopt the name "Munster" along with his daughter. But, you're right, it is strange that he changed his last name, too. SKULL 11-13-2006, 11:35 PM  I remember Grandpa telling someone his name was "The COUNT DRACULA" from Transulvania (?)...I believe it was in "The FERGOSI RING"... I think he was talking to the Overseas Operator!
