I have often heard people post threads about the Apt. set-up's on 3's Company. They have said "How can the Roper's or Furley's Apt. be set up the same way as the 3 room mates? It can't be because it's set up in reverse fashion from the room mates in 201? Well, there is a simple logical explanation to this. All the Apts. WERE set up the same. I'll give an example.

In tonite's 2nd episode of 3's Company, ep. # 98 "Dying To Meet You", Janet & Cindy are at the bottom of the stairs talking to Max about Jack "being dead". Mr. Furley comes out of his Apt. to overhear the conversation & faints. His door entrance- if you want to go "up the stairs" is on the left. At the top of the second floor is Apt. 201 & it's entrance is ALSO on the left.

This is also evident in ep. # 66 " A Black Letter Day". About the article in "Dear Abby" that a room mate is having an affair with one & the other doesn't know/ Siamese twin article. When Chrissy comes back to the Apts. from the grocery store & runs into Larry coming down the steps, they stand at the bottom floor & Chrissy tells Larry that she won a turkey baister. On the bottom floor, to the left, if you're going "up the stairs", is Mr. Furley's apt. Chrissy actually does go on up the stairs & runs into Lana, who shows her the article. The entrance, from outside, is on the left, same as Mr. Furley's. The reason most people have perceived the apts. as being set up different is actually only because of "camera angle".

The simple explanation is the producers didn't want the audience to be looking at the same generic set up. So, to make it different and keep people's interest, they:
1- had the room mates enter from the right.
2. had Roper's/ Furley enter from the left.
3. had Larry's apt. have a "straight on", or "straight ahead' appearance for a 3rd angle. This is also evident in ep. 98 "Dying To Meet You".

That's all it was- camera angle to make it look a little different so we all don't see the same ol', same ol'.
