View Full Version : Did they ever identify/catch the bank robber... skunk ape 07-15-2006, 12:19 AM ...that dressed like a high school teacher, didn't conceal his identity, and shot out the cameras before exiting the banks? kadrmas15 07-15-2006, 12:03 PM As far as I know they never caught the guy. Just so I and everyone else is clear about who you are talking about are you talking about the guy that would usually dress in a suit and would never wear a disguise? He would just walk in with a brief case sometimes looking all business like and then he would pull out a gun, rob the bank and then after he had robbed it he would shoot out the security camera as if to make himself distinguished from other bank robbers? There was no update. I am not sure if they ever caught the guy but I dont think they ever caught the guy which was surprising considering he didnt use a disguise and so many people saw him. Was it because he would only rob small town banks? At the time they did the segment they said this guy had been robbing banks for over 15 years. Also those were just the ones in Pennsylvania I wonder if he did them anywhere else? Just a weird case of how they couldnt catch this guy unless he lived in a completely different area from where he robbed so that the chances of him getting caught would be less. kadrmas15 07-15-2006, 12:07 PM This guy I think was really cocky because he went about his business so slowly. Like when he would leave he would walk not run, he would just calmly walk to his car and get in it and drive away at the speed limit. It didnt look like he was in any real rush once he got outside the bank probably because he didnt want to draw attention to himself. It wouldnt surprise me if the guy was from Pittsburgh or Philadelphia or some bigger city and would just drive out to the country to these small towns banking on the fact that it wouldnt be covered as much in the media if he did small town banks therefore lessening the chance that he would get caught. I wonder if he is still at it? kadrmas15 07-15-2006, 12:38 PM I looked into Pennsylvania unsolved crimes and it seems this guy vanished into thin air. Maybe he was arrested or died or moved to another area? I found this one from 1996 a guy that wore a disguise but he was in his 50's and it described his car as a chrysler New Yorker. Here is the link: http://www.pacrimestoppers.org/fugitive/617.htm One of the other ones I found of a guy in his 50's: http://www.pacrimestoppers.org/fugitive/826.htm I doubt either one of these are him but you never know. I am thinking this guy might be in prison and lifetime just didnt update it. skunk ape 07-15-2006, 04:30 PM I doubt they are him, but maybe he changed his MO after seeing himself on UM, or he could have fled the area and possible may have fled the country. How much money has he withdrawn from all of the bank scores? kadrmas15 07-15-2006, 04:44 PM Yeah, I dont know. I do know that a year or two ago an elderly bank robber was arrested in California. Apperantly this guy was around 70 at the time he was arrested. In the mid to late 90's he had moved out west and I believe had robbed banks in California, Arizona, Nevada and Utah. I dont know how much money the guy was able to get from robbing the banks. They said that he had been robbing small town banks all around Pennsylvania since the late 1970's, very early 1980's. What I have always wondered is if he lived in Ohio or West Virginia or something and commuted to Pennsylvania for the robberies? I also wonder if he didnt hit other states like Ohio, West Virginia and Maryland. I bet getting profiled on UM did spook him, I am sure he knew about his apperance on there. Obviously he had wide media coverage there so it wouldnt surprise me if he re located to a completely different part of the country or maybe as you said a different country altogether. That guy must have taken a ton of money over the years since they said at the time of the UM story that he had been robbing banks in Pennsylvania for about 15 years. I dont know what to think about this guy, he has got away with it a long time. It is rare someone gets away with robbing banks as long as he has. skunk ape 07-15-2006, 05:10 PM "It is rare someone gets away with robbing banks as long as he has." Especially when he doesn't even bother to cover his face. george ramos 07-23-2006, 05:11 PM Unsolved Mysteries proved that many criminals can get away with what they do. Karma doesn't affect everybody. |
