I will have all the ABC eps of Three's A Crowd in a week so I won't have to record those at all. I will record the Ropers, only if they are showing all 26 eps

As of now, just those 6 episodes, but they finally have full rights, so we can see them at any point (hopefully as a regular on weekends or online at least).

I doubt that. I think the best option would be this:

Weeknights
11-12 & 2-3AM Three's Company

Weekends
11PM & 2AM The Ropers
11:30PM & 2:30AM Three's a Crowd

Hopefully they consider it.

yeah I would be happy with that. Nothing is worse than over playing a show. It may be late, but you can always record it. That is probably the perfect solution if they choose to show it like that.

Solomon, do you have The Ropers pilot and The Party episode with the Ropers credits? I wonder if TV Land will air those episodes with Ropers credits, rather than Three's Company? Should be interesting.

I may i will have to check. I find it funny TV LAND wants to air these spinoffs now since so many traders have the shows on their list-lol Here is TV LAND's Philosphy-

"We can air this show now since a lot of people have seen it"

What I don't get is why they're showing the The Ropers & Three's A Crowd after Midnight.

Just program your VCR and be thankful that TV LAND is airing eps of both spinoffs-lol

to traders it isn't rare, but to the general public it is. Did you see how many people in this one thread alone said they hadn't seen either one. I think a lot more people haven't seen it then have.

This is a cool marathon. I'm not a HUGE fan of these shows, but I definitly like them and intend to watch the marathon.

Would the fans of "Three's Company" like it or not if TV Land decided to air "Three's a Crowd" along with TC as sort of a ninth season? Since they have the rights to the show and it is continued stories of Jack Tripper. Just curious. I believe Lifetime did that with "The Golden Girls" and "The Golden Palace."

Since everyone seen TC it would be a good idea for TV LAND to air 12 eps of TAC and the Ropers. 6 is a very low number

I agree Solomon. I guess by airing it 3-6a, they have nothing to lose in the ratings. I would have done this for the 48-hour marathon:

Saturday
6a-9a TC
9a-12p Ropers
12p-3a TC
3-6a Ropers

Sunday
6a-9a TC
9a-12p Three's a Crowd
12p-3a TC
3-6a Three's a Crowd

Awesome! Thanks, Pav! Don't mind this quote, but it's just a reminder for me as to the exact episode times.

Nearly a year later, and I still can't get my VCR set to record. However, I am going to get a friend of mine to help me with it so I can record the "Three's a Crowd" and "The Ropers" episodes.

Oh, man.... I just remembered that's the weekend I will be out of town to attend my cousin's wedding in Mexico. Well, I can just use the VCR set timers to record them. Thanks again!

You would think it wouldn't be included since it's not an actual episode. The TVLand execs don't know what they're doing.

After seeing the two original pilots for the first time today, I definitely see why a third was necessary. Suzanne Zenor as Samantha was so far removed from Suzanne Somers' Chrissy...I just don't know what to say. Zenor's voice was annoying too. Valerie Curtin's Jenny seemed to be too much of a know-it-all. Maybe I got that feeling because she's taller than our Joyce?

Susan Lanier's Chrissy...I don't know what to say. It was summed up perfectly in the opening sequence of the 2nd pilot: we see John and Joyce smiling towards the camera in normal, decent poses. Susan Lanier just oozes "seductress" in her shot. It's kinda funny, actually. Lanier's Chrissy was definitely much more sexed up than Somers', if that's even possible.

I do have to say, I enjoyed Mrs. Roper's shades in the 1st pilot. Wish those could have been used in the actual series every now and then as sort of a trademark (kinda like her muumuus).

Ditto! The shades made her seem very cool. I think the shades were traded in for all of those rings she wore on her fingers.:p

I also liked Mrs. Roper's outfit better in the unaired pilots-instead of mu-mus, she wore a 70's style shirt with wild prints, cool shades, and...pants! That looked "groovier" than those gawd awful mu-mus!

I think that the only reason the second pilot wasn't good enough was because they thought that it would be a better idea to have Chrissy talk Janet into letting Jack move instead of the other way around

I think the first unaired pilot was hilarious! I can understand the changes they made, but the cast did a good job. It was interesting to see Audra Lindley's original take on Mrs. Roper. Some of the jokes were funnier, too, than they were in the remake.

She was a know it all and struck me as kind of a pot head, too.
I thought Sam was cute, but yeah her voice was a bit annoying. As a model, though, she was convincing. I don't think she would've been as convincing as a ditzy secretary like Chrissy was. Funny how they cast three Suzy's in the role. ;-)

Some things were toned down when the show finally hit the air, Chrissy being just one. (read on) I thought she had a little more confidence acting wise that Suzane did when she started.

I do have to say, I enjoyed Mrs. Roper's shades in the 1st pilot. Wish those could have been used in the actual series every now and then as sort of a trademark (kinda like her muumuus).

Those were cool, the shades, that is. The first incarnation of Mrs. Roper was a lot sharper with her tounge and no-nosense than the second. Audra showed her acting range.

I noticed there was an Andy Warhol Marilyn Monroe print on the wall of the girl's room that ended up in Elanor's room at the start of the 3rd pilot.

More toning downs:This joke where Mr. Roper says he and his wife were having a "little disagreement on a certain matter of sex" was changed. The reply: "do you want to borrow our manual?" was changed to "would you like to borrow a book?". Also, seeing John Ritter in that shiny pink bath robe in the first pilot was over the top, but hilarious. I'm glad we finally got to see that. The girl in the first pilot, that Roper thought was a guy, didn't mind him groping her. The part about calling Dougie was completely cut out of the third pilot. In the second, we learn Jack has dirty books in his room. And that wallpaper from the first simply had to go!

Didn't realize Vicki was such a bee-itch on TAC. Such a short-fuse, shuts Jack out, silent treatment, whiney. But gotta love the cornball theme :). "Love's a crazy ride, when you're side by siiiiiiide."

I've always thought she was wrong for the part of Vicki, not a good chemistry between her and John.

Mrs. Roper in the first pilot is much closer to the British Mrs. Roper, from "Man About the House", who was not terribly likable. They made a good call by softening the character.

I can't decide who was the worse blonde roommate - Suzanne Zenor or Susan Lanier. They were both pretty bad.

Valerie Curtin, from the first pilot, is a very funny lady, but was miscast playing the "straight man" role. Between her and Mary Cadorette, they make you appreciate Joyce DeWitt's performance all the more.

"Three's a Crowd" would have been better with a stronger lead actress (with a little more personality) and a few more cast members. The whole thing just seems so...depopulated. EZ never gets much to do (and isn't that funny), so the whole thing rests on Ritter and Robert Mandan.

I'm so pissed because I missed the ENTIRE marathon. I was out of town that weekend, but I totally forgot to ask someone to record the Three's a Crowd and The Ropers episodes. pissed: :cuss:

Will any of these spinoff episodes re-air sometime soon? *crossing fingers* That is, if we don't get the spinoffs on DVD.
