Does anyone ever feel like God isn't listening to them?

Lately, I've been feeling like this. I believe He loves everyone, but there's something I want (it's not a material item) and I've been asking Him to help me get it for months now, and still nothing has happened. I just wish He'd help me, and arrange things so I can get it, and I keep asking Him, but He doesn't seem to have done anything.

How can I be sure that God is listening to me? Is there any way I can convince Him to help me get what I want? It's something that would enrich my life and be of great benefit to me; and there's no reason why He shouldn't help me.

God will give you or deliver you what HE FEELS is right for you. You may not get what YOU WANT...God does listen though. He answers prayers the way HE SEES FIT, not the way you expect it sometimes.

But in the Conversations With God books, God says that He wants for us what we want for us.

They're a series of three books, not just one book. God didn't write them himself, but He didn't write the Bible himself, either.

I believe that the dialogue that is attributed to God in these books IS really God's dialogue.

exactly.

the things we want aren't always meant to be. god has a plan for everyone, and sometimes having the things we want would interfere with that plan. sometimes striving for something you never end up having triggers the events of what is meant to happen; it benefits you in the long run. i've realized that through personal experience. if you were meant to have what you want right now, he would give it to you right now, but there is a reason he's not, whatever it may be.

I see what you mean, and it does make sense. It's just that God says the opposite of that in the Conversations With God books, and I honestly believe that the dialogue attributed to him in those books really is his dialogue. Here are some direct quotes from the second book (from God's dialogue).

...your desires are My desires. Your will is My Will

I will "give" you whatever you call forth.

I'm beginning to think that there's a possiblity that I'm subconsciously obstructing myself from getting what it is that I want - I think maybe my fear of not getting it is preventing me from getting it. Maybe I need to work on controlling my thoughts more?

Ever hear the song from Garth Brooks called "Thank God for Unanswered Prayers"? God always listens, but He won't answer a prayer if He believes it isn't good for you or if He wants you to solve a problem yourself.

According to your faith be it unto you (Matthew 9:29)

Scroll down to "The Power of Positive Thinking" and under the number four.

But God says the opposite of that in the CWG books. And I honestly believe that the words attributed to God in those books are really God's words.

I know, deep down, that He must be listening. But it's very easy to doubt it sometimes, especially when nothing seems to be happening. I know He must be, but I let worries and fear get in the way.

Thanks for the link, dlemond. :)

It is your perogative to believe those books are actual words of God...however, it is written by someone who is NOT God...it is THEIR INTERPRETATION of what they believe to be what God means, what God says, what God wants...I don't take any book that one must shell out money for...money that goes into that author's pocket.

I get my spiritual advice for free. From my beloved parish, my priests, my catholic up-bringing and what my mind and heart tell me. I only generalize that God will give unto us as individuals what HE FEELS IS NECESSARY, what He feels is right for the moment, etc. I also believe in the Virgin Mary and that saying the rosary, She will bring unto us those things she has promised to deliver; and those things are not material things, but spiritual fullfillment in many ways.

Apparently He thinks me being miserable and suicidal is good for me. x_x

suicidal thoughts are a severe mental problem. And God wouldn't want you to suffer. He comforts.

People must remember the bad things that occur in this world occur because of humankind. Satan is behind humankind who are doing the negative things in this world such as killings, hate, racism, etc. Even the things that occur to us as individuals are works of the devil. He wants people to be mean, hateful, spiteful, vengeful, seething in hate and ills towards others...he is behind people wanting to hurt themselves physically and emotionally (alcohol, drugs, harming one self thru other methods)...it gets to the point that people need to seek out help or for those around them to help them to get help. That is the comfort that God brings.

There might be a way you could change that.

See, God says in the first CWG book that we (humans) are constantly creating our reality. And He said that our thoughts, if repeated over and over, many times, manifest themselves into reality. Therefore, if we think a thought repeatedly, it will become reality.

So maybe, if you think and think and think that you're not depressed and suicidal, then you won't be. :)
