instead of making a subcategory for every variety show, why don't you just split Sketch Comedy, Variety, Talk Show, and Late Night TV into there own separate ones. You could have the outside title read everything else or something.

i dont know if any of this is a good idea or not - i was just curious about how much interest there is in this type of shows; they typically dont get a lot of posts, but maybe people just don't know about this area of the boards or don't think about these shows much.

as for the list of shows i put on the poll, they were taken directly from wikipedia... no personal bias there at all.

I vote for Saturday night live because I get so tired of seeing the same thing about it on quote unquote fan borads ie everyone watching it just to trash it at least here at sitcoms online we can have some intelligent dussicons about whats right and whats wrong with the show without everyone trashing it every other sentence

I went for "other"...that other is "Chappelle's Show".

This show is more of a modern format of a Variety Show, some parts are live, but some of it is pre-recorded.

The Variety Show more than likely evolved into a Sketch Show during the late-60's.

PS-"Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In" wasn't listed either!
