Does anyone know if there has been an update on the segment where a white southern women, Jackie, was looking for the black nanny who worked at their house a couple of years in the 40s when Jackie was about four?

Her name was Ella and according to Jackie she learnt alot from Ella about the racial situation in the south at the time and about human dignity and courage. Ella would always encourage her to paint and eventually become her best friend.

But Ella then got a chance to go to school herself and she and Jackie then lost contact. The segment was first shown in 1990 I think.

I remember seeing that segment in 1990. But to my knowledge, it has never been rerun on Lifetime. So regrettably, I don't know the current status of the case. :(

I just finished watching this one for the first time. I thought it was a very sweet lost loves case especially that the first composite sketch they showed was drawn by Jackie Cooper herself from memory. I am curious if anyone out there might remember it or if there was an update to it.

I watched this, for the first time, myself last night. I searched the board for an update but could only ever find this thread and mention of the case on some of wiseguy's "never aired on Lifetime" type threads.

I tried Googling "Jackie Cooper" and the nanny's name "Ella" (her last name was unknown) but couldn't find anything of significance.

Does anyone know if there was an update? I find it strange this was a "lost love" case yet wasn't repeated on Lifetime. Usually when this happens, I tend to think the outcome probably wasn't a happy one, much like the outcomes of the James Vernon/Libby and the Janet Parker O'Regan/James White Lost Loves cases that were never syndicated, and apparently never shown again after they originally aired on NBC.

I'm starting to enjoy the Lost Loves cases after ignoring the majority of them for so long this one in particular is very poignant and memorable.

I enjoy them. They are a nice variety measure in the show, and are often very interesting stories in terms of how life can take different paths.
Why must every segment be about some horrible murder or crime? A little redeeming good news is not a bad thing.

I'm interesting it watching this segment. I been a UM stan for years and I don't recall ever seeing it. I don't think it is in the FilmRise collection.

At first it got me to thinking about the Caucasian woman who was searching for a Black female possible half-sister who called her and asked about her father. It wasn't until she hung up and began thinking that she realized the woman was probably a secret daughter of her father's. I remember the lady asking her "you do know you are talking to a white woman right?". I always found that hilarious.

So many segments have been removed from the original archives. I really wish we could get an unedited full series release on DVD or something. I really am grateful for the FilmRise collection but so much was omitted and edited out.

I remember having the full CrystalDawn collection in 2010 or so and getting to watch so many episodes I thought I would never see again. I have moved countless times and have since lost them.
