There's no reason to delete this thread, darling! SON is contiuing to report this as a fact and the only reason why it was taken down is because ABC Daytime didn't want it to be released so soon.

It is time to CELEBRATE! Jeff Beldner and Amanda L. Beall are the best at what they do (Beldner has been a breakdown writer since 1989 and Beall has been a scriptwriter since 2003) and it is about time they are recognized for it. Beldner is finally going to be given the chance to shine!

Oh I know, I just thought I'd delete it till they posted a new link :)

I'm glad AMC has two writers taking over who are actually great :D

So the new primary writers are already with the show? I think the show on ABC that seriously needs a new headwriter is OLTL. I hate The Truman Show.

I hope this is true! It seems there are many conflicting reports.

Man when is she leaving? This show is becoming really hard to watch.

Are you sure this is true? I read the fall spoilers and it still lists her as the head writer. Does she have a contract with the show she has to finish out first before they can get rid of her?

It's all rumors at this point. Even if McT were to get canned tomorrow it would be months before there would be any changes in the writing.

I've read from a source who is considered reliable that AMC is grooming primetime writer Burton Armus to take over for McTrash.

I guess he wrote for NYPD Blue and has been an AMC Fan most of his life, and was NOT happy with them undoing Erica's abortion.

IMO the change cannot happen fast enough, McTrash has destroyed the show

How much longer is she going to tank this show? This show is sinking so fast and the upcoming serial killer storyline doesn't look promising given how badly "Who killed Greg Madden" went.

What I read was that if AMC does badly in sweeps(which is a given LOL), then Frons, McTavish and others are out.

They really waited for this show to go down hill before doing anything to stop it and putting out fans in the process. I just watched a tape of the Emmys from several years ago when Frons was the head of NBC daytime. It boggles the mind how he still gets such high profile positions. Wasn't he promoted awhile ago. Man did they lose a lot of steam after the baby stealing storyline drew them an audience.

Lord knows when this whole thing is going to take place. Apparently, Kay Alden and Jack Smith (both let go from "The Young and the Restless") have been given consultant jobs at ABC. Smith is working exclusively with GH while Alden is working with both OLTL and AMC, with more of a focus on AMC now. Who knows what this means...

Megan is without a doubt the most screwed up head writer a show could ever have. Did anyone read the news about Julia (Brooke) on TV Guide? She's not even getting a proper goodbye scene. She just vanishes after Simone's funeral next Wednesday. She spent 30 years on this show and this is the thanks she gets. I feel sorry for her. Megan should go work on Passions. That show loves to screw up, she would fit right in.

The thing is that the first time Megan worked at AMC she produced some of the best stuff AMC has ever had (Erica goes the rehab, the return of Skye, Janet goes off the edge and talks to the mirror, etc) but upon her return to AMC she managed only 1 decent storyline, the rape of bianca montgomery/resulting baby switch, everything else she's done has been awful.

and her work at GH was, well, a total disaster.

Some good news:

From Soap Opera Weekly:

ABC SNAPS UP Y&R VETS (ex Y&R HWs Jack Smith & Kay Alden now consulting on all the ABC soaps. Alden is concentrating first on the struggling AMC. Insiders say Smith will be consulting primarily on GH)

McTavish started out as a consultant and moved to Head Writer so I hope they're grooming Kay Alden to take over for McTavish

I just saw Soap Net's site in breaking news Megan McTavish is getting dumped as the Headwriter of AMC. I just have one question, "What the hell took so long?"

It is about time. I wish that it did not have to be this way but this woman (bless her heart) had us seeing one of the mose beloved characters die for a stack on peanut butter pancakes meant for someone else and totally failed to give a 30 veteran a proper send off. The character of "Brooke" just suddenly disappears. There are others, but these two errors stand out. I hope that Megan McTavish does well in the future.

I hope Mc T stays away from writing soap operas though. We still have several weeks of characters doing things that make no sense and have to grin and bare it until the new crew takes over.
