Showing my ignorance here, but there is actually a line in The Brady Bunch that I don't understand. In the pilgrim movie episode, I think Alice was talking about being in a play and says something like "PS 34 or was that PS 43?" What does that mean?

In cities, schools are done by numbers and not names. PS is Public School.

True. Not all cities used them though. New York city is one that does.
It kind of fits her personality. She's from an older generation, but she's also kind of street smart, working class. She probably grew up in a big city.

That one wasnt really one of my favorite episodes
Thanks. I learned something today. It's just sort of embarrassing to think that there's something from that show that I didn't understand.

I remember that line from Alice and knew what she was talking about, even though (1) I am only 34 years of age and (2) no schools where I grew up (southwest Ohio) were named like that.
