View Full Version : Why did the TC movie make it seem like John and Joyce were a couple?-lol
TVFactFan 07-07-2006, 11:49 PM When the producer was telling John Ritter about the new spinoff, why would John say "WHAT ABOUT JOYCE? and not"What about Joyce and Priscilla?
Why would it matter to John what Joyce felt about the direction the producers want to go in with his character? It's all LIES!!!!!
KissMyGrits 07-07-2006, 11:56 PM Exactly!! The whole movie made it seem like Suzanne was the victim!! UGH!! It drives me crazy every time I watch it!!

"Did you Tell Joyce Yet"-lol And then Joyce askes Ted the Producer-"what happens to Janet?
If i was Ted I would have said-"What part of spinoff don't you understand?-lol

Right! I hate how they did that! Suzanne brought it all onto herself. She signed a deal with CBS while on an ABC show for crying out loud!!
Although I don't think they should've made John and Joyce as clingy to each other as they were, John was concerned about Joyce when they told him about the spin-off. He didn't want her or Priscilla to be left out in the cold. But you're right, he said what about Joyce and Priscilla.

According to the Movie, there was no priscilla-lol

Yeah, I know, LOL. Priscilla had no lines, Jennilee had one line, and where the heck was Richard? LOL.

That's why the movie was disappointing. :(
Mr. Television 07-08-2006, 01:04 AM The movie shouldn't be taken seriously by anyone.

If it really did happen that way, maybe it's because he'd known Joyce the longest and was closer to her.
I would've loved if in the final episode Jack and Janet did get together, they could've discovered that something was there afterall. And they could've referred back to Mate for Each Other.

IMO, I don't think that john and Joyce were a couple, John was married to Nancy and Joyce was involved with someone else. I feel though, Susanne did bring it on all herslef. That's why to this day, I have no respect for her what so ever! I remember watching the other day (on tape) The E! True Hollywood Story On Three's Comany' and I remeber seeing them showing John and he said that the next time he ran into Susanne was at some kind of premirie for a play(this happend a long while after 'Three's Company' was cancelled) and he walked up to her and said,' Chrissy come home'. and he said that she said' what was it that we were fighting about back than'? And John had said,'forget about it'. But that was than.
Let's not forget that a while after when he died and they made the second(or maybe it was the third season of 'Three's company' that they asked Susanne if she'd say a few words about John, and I heard that it was siad that she wouldn't do it unless she was paid. What a greedy little witch!
Janet Tripper 07-08-2006, 01:32 PM I don't think the movie tried to show JJ as a couple...just as good friends. They had stuck together through out the whole show til the end. And even at the end they show they remained friends!!
TVFactFan 07-08-2006, 01:40 PM If Joyce really asked the producers-"What happens to Janet? Then she was not as smart as I thought he was. I really don't want to believe that she asked a question that stupid-lol Because by her asking that question, she was making it seem like her and Jack played a TV couple and that the producers wanted the Jack character to get another girlfriend. Did Joyce forget that her and John characters were PLATONIC FRIENDS????-lol

Haha..it was probably wishful thinking on her part.

The producer was right when he said she had a long career on Three's company and it was time for her to move on

It seems like all the other actors weren't to upset with the show ending like that. Joyce had to be in denial because at the mostTC only had maybe one more season left.

I know, and why was it so important that she be included and not no one else? I wonder why she didn;t say-"what happens to the REST of the cast? instead of What Happens to Janet?-lol

Since Joyce played a major part in this movie being made (she herself appeared in it) you would think even she would have some say so as to how the lines would be said...Why include herself and not Priscilla?

What I don't understand was , why were their so many mistakes in the movie if Joyce was involved with it?

It makes me wonder if they changed alot behind her back. Didn't she ever watch the already shot scenes and say "No, this isn't right. it didn't happen that way, I was there and we didn't shoot the scene this way."

I don't think she meant it like that!! I would think its like anyone to want to know what their job (career) would be like if they knew changes were coming. I think she and the rest of the cast should have been informed just like John was. I understand he was the 'star' <I think everyone was needed> of the show but still the other cast members had spend so much time being part of the TC family.
I remember you posting on another mbs that you had come up w/a new plan for your company to increase revenues and your boss kinda blew it off and told you to get back to work (I don't really remember what it was he said) and you felt disappointed. I think that is the same way with Joyce she been part of TC for so long and had put alot into her job and felt that she needed to be treated w/more respect!!
JMO!

I remember reading that she didn't really have that much of a saying. She was even willing to pay the actor that would play Larry if they included him but they didn't! So I don't think she had that much of a saying!?!?!

She should have been told, they all should have but she should have been prepared that the show would be ending soon. The ratings had already started to drop and they probably only had an extra year left maybe.

Joyce was going to find out eventually about the new spinoff. The thing is they were focusing on John and new cast members and that's the direction they were going in. Joyce's whole thing was-"Why am I not on the New show? Not-"why wasn't she told.

Joyce should have just did what Don, Priscilla, and Richard did, move on-lol
LuLu Rogers 07-08-2006, 09:45 PM The producers were very crooked when it came to handling the stars of their show. The whole cast should have been informed of the spin-off and the ending of the show as a group. That would have been the fair way to do it.

They were hurt that the show was ending too, especially Richard and Don. They really enjoyed working on the show.
_Jack&Janet_ 07-12-2006, 11:51 PM i remember 'John" asking... "No more Janet?" adn the producer was mean and said "no more Janet." i was like... aw... *tear....
then i had a good laugh on the part where Suzanne leaves John and Joyce alone in the house, i was like.... OO000oo

Why is being concerned about his castmates dumb?
