How/when can we find out how well the show is doing on TV Land?

if they move it to 3:00AM in a week, we'll know that it tanked

if they have another marathon in a month we'll know that it did REALLY WELL!

Good Point, those are some of the ways to find out-lol I still would like Benson to come on at 9:30pm or 10pm

It still would be nice to get the actual numbers to see how it's doing. I did not see it as a positive sign that it was moved a half-hr later after a very short time in the 10pm EST slot but others explained that it wasn't really a big deal. It is for me though, since 10:30pm EST is around the time I get very sleepy and it's tougher for me to stay awake to watch it. :D

The Best Time for a New Show is 8pm to 10pm. Not 11:30pm and after

Benson has faltered in the ratings after the marathon. It did OK in the 11 p.m. slot early, but now it is not doing much.
Thus changes have been made...

Benson will lost its 11:30 p.m. slot and will only air Friday nights from 12-4am:

:crying:

Wow, that's disappointing. But I get the feeling TV Land has a lot of young viewers (judging by their message boards) and they are pretty much hung up on certain shows. I don't think a lot of viewers are open-minded about newer shows.

227 is already getting pulled for once a week airing. So, Benson at least has it a bit better.

Also, it seems that TV Land has set Benson up for failure. I never see new shows starting so late. I don't understand what their thinking was. If you introduce a new show, at least give it a fighting chance to succeed by starting it out in a good time slot. 11pm EST is not anything to brag about. 9 or 10pm EST would make a lot more sense.

11PM is still primetime for TV Land. I remember Three's Company debuted at 11PM back in 2000.

I don't think 11:30 is really that bad at all. I have had Benson on every day. I don't really watch it, but I see it all the time. Some people might say 8 or 9 is bad because some people go out at that time.

Well it does make you wonder what might have happened. According to TV Land, a lot of people requested the show, and then the marathon did pretty well. Possibly poor promotion? When I watch other TV Land shows, I never see promos for Benson.

Damm, well why not move it to 10pm? So what will be in place of Benson on Mondays from 12am to 4am?

Well who will watch 227 at 12:30pm? So that's why no one was watching

Three's Company. Basically, TC and Benson are switching marathon nights.

Maybe TV Land should try Benson in a New Time Slot say like 3:00 pm Central Time

I'm all for them moving it to whatever time they want if it meant keeping it on every day as opposed to 1 night a week. Even if I can't watch it I can at least tape it if I want.

Hey if you were in Charge of TV Land what time would you air Benson on TV Land
I still say 3:00 pm Central Time

If it's doing so good how come they moved it to once a week?

Once a week, but that once it's airing eight times (seven if they go heavy on the commericals).

Want to talk about a new acquisition getting the short-change? 227. And it was doing decently too.

Well here's something interesting I found on the TVLand message boards (this was in answer to a question about "227" being cut down to almost no air time):

The change in schedule had nothing to do with the ratings. Several shows have multiple plays that need to be used or they will be lost. Thus, the morning marathons help resolve that problem. I expect the shows that were moved to once a week airing on the weekend will return to the regular schedule in September. I'll post more details as they become available.

I am assuming this should apply to Benson as well. (Hopefully!) :D

227 aired only twice before they announced that change. The afternoon block change ahd nothing to do with ratings. 227 will return to the midday schedule in September.

As for Benson, it did well for the marathon and early airings at 11 p.m., then it started to slow down. Three's Company made a perfect lead-in, but Benson dropped from that show a lot, it seems. Three's Company continues to do very well for them. Benson will be on 7 days a week in September, at 3 a.m.

I think 11:30 really hurt it big-time. I know from reading the TV land message boards that quite a few people complained that the 11pm slot was a little too late for them, and if that's the case then adding a half-hr was really a killer.

3am is a nasty time. I can't imagine any show getting good ratings then.

Honestly, I think early evening, say 7 PM ET, would have been great for Benson...

Me too. Back in the md-80s, WGN aired it around 5-6pm CST. It was perfect! :)

When do the rights expire because if they will move it to 3 a.m. it doesn't have much longer

I say they should just take it off now, 3am is for shows like Sanford and Son

I don't know how many times I have to explain this. I posted the reason again earlier today ON this thread.

sometimes it just seems like TVLand gets its ratings info and makes all of its scheduling decisions by consulting the Magic 8-ball.

Well, let's hope so. Even if they don't show it in "prime time", at least late afternoon/early evening would be a big improvement over 3am!
