Does anyone know what kind of ratings the show got during it's 8 season run? I'm guessing that it was never Top 10, but possibly did make Top 15-20. I'd be curious to know how high and low it managed to peak.

TVFactFan 07-04-2006, 07:44 PM Does anyone know what kind of ratings the show got during it's 8 season run? I'm guessing that it was never Top 10, but possibly did make Top 15-20. I'd be curious to know how high and low it managed to peak. The show was never even in the top 30 Pavan 07-04-2006, 11:56 PM Season 1 was high rated, so I don't understand why it is not listed in the 1985-86 ratings. TVFactFan 07-04-2006, 11:58 PM Season 1 was high rated, so I don't understand why it is not listed in the 1985-86 ratings. Maybe it finished #31-lol Pavan 07-05-2006, 12:33 AM Not sure, all 6 finished in the top 20 for sure. As you can see, episodes 2 and 5 were both in the top 10. RootBeerRag 07-05-2006, 07:43 AM Thanks for the ratings info, Pavanbadal. Didn't the show do so well the first season because it replaced something that was pretty popular? I'm thinking maybe it was "Growing Pains"? TVResearcher, you must be referring to the show never ranking in the Top 30 for a complete ratings year, since Pavanbadal's information shows that the show hit the Top 30(even Top 20) at least a few times. #19 is pretty good for a 6th season episode.. If I were to have guessed, I would have thought the show would have peaked during the 4th and 5th seasons. It looks like what really ended up killing the show was the move to Saturday nights.. The network must have wanted to kill the show; which I can't say I entirely blame them; the seventh season just seemed like the writers really got lazy. It was sad to see it go down that way, though. Yes Perfect Strangers replaced Growing Pains in March of 86 Pavan 07-08-2006, 03:58 PM Just updated the ratings post with every network airing for Perfect Strangers! That took a while of research to do, but I finally did it. This is just a little taste of what you will see on Linda Kay's Perfect Strangers website coming later this summer! http://www.perfectstrangers.tv And I found quite a few errors on tv.com (and epguides.com) regarding air dates for seasons 2, 3, 5 and 7. Especially seasons two and three. This list I made is the correct list. TVFactFan 07-08-2006, 04:06 PM Just updated the ratings post with every network airing for Perfect Strangers! TV Tome was so much better to browse-lol Nothing ever ever stays the same RootBeerRag 07-09-2006, 02:18 AM Thanks for posting all of those airdates and ratings. It looks like the show had some decent moments in the ratings. When a show is aired on a network, who decides what order the episodes will be aired in? Do the producers of the show give the network some kind of order or does the network just pick episodes to air at random? The reason I ask is that some of the episodes just don't really seem to flow too well into each other, especially in season two. I realize we're not talking about a serial series, but.. For example, Jennifer and Mary Anne are introduced in the second episode of season two, "Hunks Like Us"; then, they have a small part in the very next episode "The Unnatural"(where we are supposed to believe that they've been playing on the same baseball team as Larry and Balki for a while??); then, the girls aren't featured again until "Falling In Love Is..", four episodes later. In the episode "Falling In Love Is", Balki gets his heart broken by a girl in his Citizenship class, yet by the next episode, "Can I Get A Witness", Mary Anne and him are acting like they've been dating for a little while. In "The Rent Stike"(which oddly features Lise Cutter, who appeared to be a regular in the first season, but only had appeared once this season, six episodes earlier), it almost seems like the plot of having Balki and Mary Anne become an item is introduced for the first time, yet, they obviously were into each other in "Can I Get A Witness".. Nothing to lose sleep over, and I should get a life, lol, but it just seems like the ordering of the episodes could have been done a little better. I guess I'm just a little particular; when a show comes out on DVD, I like to watch the natural progression of plots. Pavan 07-09-2006, 12:10 PM I think sometimes the network picks the better episodes to air first. Airdate orders can be strange sometimes. Check the production order for those episodes you mentioned...maybe it is a bit better. BTW, do not use tv.com or epguides.com for airdate order for this show. I found so many errors! Yes, the show did very well in the ratings. It won every time slot it appeared in. The move to Saturdays was a killer. I think they were trying to develop Baby Talk into more of a success that year and it didn't work I guess. They brought in Billy to air 9:30 Fridays and moved PS to Saturdays. Tough break. A little tidbit: after the 1988 Olympics ended, they moved PS to Fridays at 8 p.m. (and moved Growing Pains to Wednesdays, so they can try new sitcom Wonder Years on Tuesdays after Who's the Boss?). That helped Full House so much, as it wasn't doing too well prior to that. And then that show became huge. RootBeerRag 07-09-2006, 01:31 PM Actually, if the production numbers are correct on TV.COM, the order actually makes a little more sense. Season Two 1.Lifesavers(which is one of only two episodes to feature Lise Cutter, a regular from season one). 2.Hello Baby 3.Ladies and Germs(I thought this one seemed like it was meant to be an earlier episode, with no mention of Jennifer of Mary Anne; hilarious episode, btw). 4.Hunks Like Us 5.Since I Lost My Baby 6.Rent Strike(this one seems like it was intended to reinvent the Jennifer and Mary Anne characters as neighbors, but in airdate order, this isn't the first episode to bring them back). 7.Babes 8.Up On The Roof(in airdate order this is the last episode, but clearly, it was a much earlier episode). 9.Can I Get A Witness 10.Unnatural(this is where the only problem comes in, while the production order makes sense, as far as plot development, this one needed to air a couple of months earlier, due to the theme of the episode. In any case, it looks like the episodes might have flown a little better had they been screened more in line with their production number, give or take a few.
