Hi everyone! I've been doing a lot of reading on this message board, which have brought back some cases to mind which I saw when I was a kid, the Baskins and the Maples case for example which I had completely forgotten about until I read about it here. Anyhoo, I began to think about two cases I saw a long time ago, probably the early 90s.

The first one was a strange and disturbing case in which a women was being pursued in her car while driving on a lonely country road. The man chasing her was some guy in a pickup truck I think. For some reason the guy just pulled up in front of her, just walking to her very calmely and then just shooting her in the head. That particular scene in slowmotion when the guy shoots the woman in the head and all the glass from the window flying in the air really stuck in my mind. I think they used that scene it later in the openings (?) in some episodes.. I don't think the women died(?) but I'm not sure.

I can't remember much more about it except that apparantly other people in the area had noticed a pickup truck behaving weird on the roads at the time of the shooting.

Does anyone have some updates or info/names on that case?? It just seemed so unmotivated and bizarre to just shoot someone like that for no particular reason.

The other case which I came to think about was about an elderly couple named Joe and Mavis (don't quote me on Mavis' name though). It was a very bizarre case in which Joe had killed his wife and buried her in his compost. Mavis was a piano teacher and very loved by the kids she taught. Also Joe called a relative claiming he was about to kill himself. But that was probably just an atempt by to create a diversion. Just like Stack said; "the whole thing just seemed like it was taken from an Hitchcock movie".

Does anyone have any updates on that case? I've been searching alot on the internet but I can't find anything about it..

Hey ididn'tdoit:

I know that in the first case, she survived a gunshot to the face. I don't know if it had ever been solved. Crystaldawn or Dark Dante might be able to help w/ that. Even Kane might.

The other case is about Joe and Gladys Owens. His remains were found a few years later in the area where he said he was going to kill himself. I guess he wasn't much farther than where the search party looked for him.

Hope this helps.

Hi mphs95, thanks for your answers. Yeah of course, Gladys was her name, now that you mention it :)

Aha ok, so he did actually kill himself, I thought it was just a divertion as the search dogs went back as if he had gone in a circle....

I'll check with the people you mention and see if they know anything about the first case. Thanx again!

Actually I just watched the first case you mentioned today on one of my tapes. She was fearful of using her real name so they only referred to her as "Carol". She was following a pickup truck (black one I believe) and it would drive erratically stopping and starting and weaving around. Then at some point he stopped the truck in front of Carol's car got out and shot her in the face got back in his truck and drove off. Police estimate he was only about 10 feet away at the time. She laid there for a while as passerby's couldn't see her slumped over in the front seat. Finally a truck with an elevated cab drove by and saw her and called for help. She was barely clinging to life when she got to the hospital and had lost two pints of blood. She eventually recovered but has a scar on her face a few inches below her eye where the bullet entered. The bullet is still lodged in her as she is fearful of having it removed. They had a composite sketch of the driver and other motorists witnessed his erratic driving that day as well but I don't know if he was ever captured. Hope this helps.
