To have more guests staying in the building. From the episodes I have seen they didn't seem to have any tenants in the building. On Petticoat Junction they always showed guests in there hotel.

Actually I'm wrong, Grady and Dolly just came by to see Fred only to find out that he had moved to Arizona. So I saw no one checking into the Sanford Arms-lol

It seemed like the hotel was a lot bigger on Sanford and Son. On Arms I think they said there was four rooms (including bridal suite) And the daugther had one and Phil and the son had the other. That leaves two empty rooms open. I don't get why they didn't just live at the Sanfords house.

The strange thing about Sanford Arms is that Bebe Drakes is in the opening credits but is never seen in any of the eps. I think she was seen briefy in the pilot and after that she was gone

She was in the Grandparents one. She was in the begging and then at the end. Phil and her were going out and he said something and than the son said something and he said if you can lie about your evening so can we.

That is the only one I remember her in.

She seemed more like a Guest than a cast member

I never understood why only Fred and Lamont were on the opening of S&S. There was so many regulars that at least Grady and Aunt Esther should have been included. Maybe even Bubba in the last season.

Probably because they were too lazy to change the opening credits once Those supporting characters became popular-lol

Now I think a good opening would be Fred and Lamont in the truck driving in downtown Watts. Aunt Esther is coming out of church and Woody is coming out of a bar. Grady and Bubba are being thrown out of the pool room. While all of this are going on they are arguing but you can't here it because of the theme. Lamont runs into a big ugly white woman's car and Fred makes a face. Hoppy and Smitty come by. They get to there house and get out of the car and are still yelling and Donna brings out food or something. Kind of long, but it would feature everyone.

I don't understand why they tried putting Aw Chu as a regular. He did not fit in at all. That might have been the pont but he came out of no where and left without any explanation. Since Ron Glass wasn't on WKRP yet I would have liked him to be a regular as Huckebuck from the poker episode. He could have easily fit in with Rollo and Lamont.

I loved Aw Chu, only in Fred's Presence-lol
