DOGS!!!!! I love them. I have a pug...but out in public i get real hesitant when a dog comes near me or runs near me. I was bitten by a pomeranian in 1997. I had abt three seconds before i seen the dog run real fast towards me and dug it's teeth into my leg. It was so painful and bleeding so much. Because the dog was small, any dog will frighten me. I am real careful when I am around dogs or when I see one in the distance, but I always have that fear. Once while taking a walk i seen a little dog run out from a garage and start barking at me and look like it was going to pounce on me. The owner was yelling at the dog but I was soooo scared that i yelled at the owner "If that dog bites me I will sue your ass!!!!" I know the owner wasn't at fault, the dog was just protecting it's "property" but that fear will never leave me.

I'm DEATHLY afraid of snakes I can't even look at them, if I see one I'll burst out in tears. I'm also afraid of those big Cockroaches if I see one I'll knock anyone down to get away from it, I saw one in our garage and I couldn't rest until my husband killed it.

Rats. They totally freak me out.

One of the unfortunate things about living here in the Big Apple is that you will run into a few of them in your travels, especially in the early predawn hours.
Having one of them skitter by as you enter a subway platform is very unnerving.

Seriously, many things but # 1 on the list would be losing a close friend or family member. Went through a period as a teen where 7 friends or family members died within 2 years. I keep my friends and family very close now

Like you, Irene, I'm terrified of big dogs. Sometimes I refrain from walking down my block alone because I think some of my neighbors' dogs will be on the loose. Irrational fear, I know :happyface I'm afraid they'll jump up on me or bite me (I'm a small person so it wouldn't be hard to overpower me).

I'm also deathly afraid of bees, deep ocean water (where you can't see the bottom), and windmills make me very, very nervous. I know that sounds like a WEIRD fear, but even seeing a picture of a big windmill in a book or something will make me shake. I have noooo idea why.

More stuff that I can list. My dialup would disconnect due to inactivity.

Some: Most dogs, most cats, spiders, bees....well, any insect or arachnid, getting sick in public (digestive system wise), being stuck in one place for too long (like at work), my parents dying, my car dying and I can't find anyone to call, failing, looking stupid in front of anyone, not being perfect, intimacy, never getting a job.....

This is part of why I'm on pills. I can't handle life.

Rodents get a bad wrap. Poor bunnies, squirrels, beavers all get lumped in with rats and mice. I am okay with mice, see them all the time when I go camping but I am with you on the rats.

WATERBUGS!!!!!

i'm so terrified of them. one day i was doing dishes and i saw a huge one climbing on the wall, so i sprayed it with raid and that mofo flew!!!!! it had wings and it flew right at me, i screamed and fell on my ass. it was scary.

then one night i had just watched the movie 'they nest' where killer roaches get under people's skin and eat them, and i felt something cold on my knee and it was one of them creepy mofo's. so now, everytime i see one, i rush to get the bug spray.

I fear mice and rats. In the subway I would see those huge rats and get grossed out. Forget mice...... When I see them scurry I jump up on anything.

I also don't like crowds. I don't like being in the middle of a crowded area. I fear that anything could happen and a person could get stomped on. Mainly me.

I can certainly relate to that.
I recently had problems with rat infestation. Under the house, in the attic, and sometimes even in the house.

Luckily, one of my brothers knows a real good pest control technician. He sealed every single entrance on the first and second stories, then set traps all over the place.
It took some time (weeks and weeks) but I think they are all gone. Haven't heard or seen any for several weeks.
They sure were pests... not fun walking downstairs at 12:00 midnight and seeing one run right in front of you.

My brother theorized that the rats were attracted to the house because of the empty plastic pots for plants and because my dad would open the back sliding door and throw food outside (a very foolish thing to do).

There is even a message board about rats... how to get rid of them, how to set traps and their habits ("know the enemy"). Link is here:

ME TOO. I'm really not scared of anything. I used to be scared of quite a few things when I was a kid, but I grew out of it. But OMG...Moths. I will always be TERRIFIED by them.

It stems from a horrifying experience I had 13 years ago, in 1993. My family and I came home from our trip to Minneapolis, and when we got home, I gathered up the newspapers that was at our front door. I brought 'em inside and cut off the rubber bands on the rolled-up newspapers. I had not one, but TWO moths FLY INTO MY FACE WHEN THE NEWSPAPERS UNROLLED. You have no idea how traumatizing that is to to a young child. I wasn't afraid of them before that, but now...Ugh. THEY ARE SO UGLY AND SO GROSS I WANT TO BARF. I don't care if they're harmless or whatever, they are UGLY AND GROSS and I don't want them anywhere near me!!

I almost had another moth fly into my face last summer when I was cleaning out a box. I almost had a ****ing heart attack when that happened, it was 1993 all over again.

I hear you there Rock Princess. Being emotionally hurt is one of my biggest fears as well. Being physically hurt is better, because it's usually temporary pain, but emotional pain can last a long long time, and runs very deep. :(

I have a strange phobia concerning my eyes. Basically, I consistently worry about harming my eyes, no matter the situation. During last father's day weekend I was probably the only fisher on our lake wearing goggles. Now it's not that I'm being overly cautious, just I don't trust my family on casting. :p

Oddly enough I wear soft contacts everyday and have no problem touching my eyes.

The fear mainly stems from a bad childhood experience where my brother accidentally hit me in the head with a metal rake. It missed my left eye by about a centimeter and temporarily blinded me for like 30 seconds. I literally thought my eye was knocked out.
