Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced "The Munsters: Two-Movie Fright Fest," a single-disc release that contains "Munster, Go Home!" and "The Munsters' Revenge."

"Munster, Go Home!" (1966) was the theatrical movie created after the series ended, and featured most of the original cast; Debbie Watson took over the role of Marilyn Munster from Pat Priest. "The Munsters Revenge" aired on TV in 1981 with K.C. Martel playing Eddie Munster, and Jo McDonnell as Marilyn Munster.

Each movie will run for 96 mins, and the single-disc will be packaged in a snap case with a cardboard sleeve. The suggested retail price for the set is $19.98 when it's released on September 26. We'll post artwork whens it's available.

I can't wait for these two gems to be released onto DVD. Hopefully the '90s Munsters movies will follow.

Hmm ... I already have both on DVD. Professionally done, too ... I found em at Best Buy and Wal-Mart a few years back.

But good news anyway, I guess.

yeah, both were out a few years ago. I never got Revenge but I taped Munster Go Home off of AMC

Hopefully, the Universal transfer will be higher quality than the Good Times transfer of a few years ago. :)

... good news. I suppose that Universal did well with S2 to release these. Munsters in general is doing well... Image is releasing that FIRST FAMILY OF FRIGHT DVD after all these years in October, as well.

I never forgave them for replacing Pat Priest...and still don't. I hope the movie transfer is of a high quality.

I too have both movies already, hopefully they release the two other Munsters movies. Here Come The Munsters and The Munsters Scary Christmas. I still need to get The First Family of Fright.

hmm not that I was expecting them, but I was hoping there would be trailers or something.

Look at the way they colored the MGH picture. I have that shot in color and Herman was NOT green. That would be my fear if they were to ever colorize the episodes. They'd be all wrong...

I have both on DVD, but will get it to see MGH in widescreen again!

That would be a very nice design if it didn't have that big, plastic-like spider web on the front.

That would be the "Collectible Spider Web Packaging". :faint:

Maybe it'll be similar to the second season packaging and the cobwebs will be on a clear sleeve. Then you could just slide them off. Just a thought...

This is great news about The 2 unsters Movie 2 be release

I have both movies already.

I received my copy of this yesterday and it's great stuff. Both movies are stunning new transfers, and very handsome they look too. "Munster, Go Home!" looks stunning, particularly the early sequences in the house. The improved contrast and vibrant color makes it like watching a new movie.

"Munsters' Revenge" is a nice transfer that manages to pull a lot of detail and contrast that was missing from the Goodtimes release. One thing that the new transfers do expose slightly is the limitations of the original make-ups - little patches of flesh in need of touch-ups are really noticeable now, as are other little rough edges.

Anyways, it's a great disc and definitely worth investing in, even if you own the original releases.

Thanks Stuart, now I think I'll pick up a copy. I wasn't too sure there would be that much of an improvement to warrant buying another copy.

Just watched the Fright Fest DVD. Munster, Go Home looked GREAT! I don't think it was that clear in the theater in 1966. Watching it wide-screen was a little distracting, only in a good way. Wondering how much of it I hadn't seen since the theater. I'll be watching it again.

The Munsters Revenge looked a lot better than the previous DVD, too. Universal did a nice job on the transfer.

Get a new copy and give the old ones to friends. :D (I gave mine to my daughter. She's already watched MGH.)

Is that 2.35:1 or 1.85:1. The amazon site isn't exactly specific for each movie.

On CD Universe it says: "Anamorphic Widescreen - 1.85" :D

I bought this set and was impressed by the removable spiderwebbing, though it really wasn't necessary.

I haven't watched MGH yet as I just watched it recently on the old disc...but hearing how it looks better I might have to do that.

Munsters Revenge was boring and I too liked seeing most of the old gang together again. I also couldn't stand the replacements either. Another thing I didn't like was that fact that Lilly had too small of a part, and she seemed uncaring. What they should have done was, keep them but add Butch Patrick and Pat Priest as their parents like they did in the Addams Family Reunion which was also boring btw.
