I don't know where it is on this site, but the theme song is actually named "Yakety Sax" and it was originally written by Boots Randolph.

You might be able to find a ringtone version under that name.

Good luck...

I've heard of "The Benny Hill show" (by the way; I've heard that he was "a very dirty old man") but what's "The Young Ones"? Never heard of it.

The Young Ones was part of the vanguard of the (socio-political) agenda-driven, oft-mean-spirited and unpleasant in tone, "alternative comedy" (read: an alternative to comedy) movement that was pushed relentlessly by the British MSM in the 1980's.

As for TBHS, I'd highly recommend his pre-1979 works, which had more emphasis on comedy, his knack for impersonations, his penchant for TV, film and ad parodies, his talent for music and poems, etc. All that went down the tubes once the emphasis was switched to T&A. Having said that, though, I think his ouster from the airwaves in 1989 was as much an indication of which groups controlled the U.K. media by default and proxy as the other factors cited.

....was more of a comedy/variety series, with songs and sketches in a loose format. If you've ever seen the original hour-long version of his monthly series, you'll see a big difference in the way each show is "laid out". I'm positive there'll be a DVD release of "The Best Of.." very soon!! If not already?

TBOBH has long been out on DVD. Concentrates entirely on the first three years' worth of shows (1969-1972), produced and directed by only one person (John Robins). And the "Yakety Sax" theme version as heard in the film originated from the Dec. 27, 1973 show. You can check Amazon.
