At least I think they both should have. Both were suppose to be adults, and when they first met her, they were cold toward her. She did nothing to them, and she tried to be very polite. All the both of them did was try to plot to get rid of her. In the later years, they ended up taking Donn's side over Fred. I guess they saw she was a pleasant woman after all. They both owed Donna a big ON SCREEN apology.

I noticed an abrupt change in Lamont's attitude towards Donna in "A House Is Not A Pool Room". Without explanation or reason, Lamont and Donna are suddenly getting along fine. It would've been nice to see Lamont apologize, reasonable guy that he was. I'd never expect Esther to.

The only early time Lamont is nice to her is when Fred makes two dates and Lamont is "Mrs Harris I love your cooking" LOL
When Lamont gets even he gets even good.

I agree, by this time Lamont and Esther should have expected Fred to go on with his life. Elizabeth died some years ago.
