I got my Season 4 DVD set last week,to me,its the best yet!
Its great having "The Lars Affair" on DVD,on of the best episodes ever,and the welcome debut of the one and only Sue-Ann,Betty White.
Ted Knight is killingly funny in every scene and Ted Baxter has really evolved from being irritating in the first season,to being a loveable idiot,love it in "Two Wrongs Don't Make A Writer"when he steals Mary's story in their writing class and changes it to suit him.
As always with "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" there is always realism and I laughed and cried at the wonderful "The Lou and Edie Story".
I know Phyllis' apearances became less on the show as Chloris was so busy,she only appears in three episodes of the season and Bess didn't appear at all this season.
Valerie Harper as always is superb as Rhoda and we get a dry run of the "Rhoda" pilot in "Rhoda's Sister Gets Married" as we see a sister Debbie,never to be seen again.
Mary herself is always in good form,you really feel for her when Rhoda blurts out Mary never finished college in "Best Of Enemies" and how funny were Mary's denim trousers in "Angels In The Snow"?
Bring on season 5 very soon,I hope!:lol:

I agree, it is the best season so far. I got through watching it last night. A lot of my favorite episodes come out of Season 4. I really hope they bring out Season 5 now!!

Season four was always my favorite, so I'm glad that it finally came out on DVD. Did anyone else notice, though, that the date on the back of the box is 1972-73? Season four aired in '73-'74. I had a moment of panic when I saw the date and thought I'd ordered season three again.

I disagree. As much as I love Betty White and Sue Ann, I came out of Season 3 feeling more fulfilled than season 4. Here's my personal reactions:

Season 1: Really great!
Season 2: Eh, good.
Season 3: FANASTIC
Season 4: Really good.

Now I'm looking forward to seeing how season 5 turns out! :D

Well, I still many times find Ted an irritating, annoying blowhard who I wish would really get his comeuppance. We were about to finally see Mary tell him off and rip into him in "Two Wrongs Don't Make a Writer", but we got jipped out of it! Ugh! :mad:

Sounds good, but I want to see "Rhoda" on DVD.
