You're lucky in one area, Family Affair will probably all come out over the next year or 2 commercially. Season 1's availalbe now. :D As for the other shows, it would be good if you had something in your arsenal to trade with. Trouble with the few traders here that have everything under the sun, when you want something of theirs you can't get it because they have everything already so there's nothing you can offer but a sad story. :( I have a very large collection of movies and TV shows but even with all that the few traders you'll find around here already have everything you have and a 1000 other shows you wouldn't ever want besides. :eek: So when they have everything there's nothing you can offer so you stay in the dog house a wishin' and a hopin'. :o

One thing I don't understand about this place, why tell everyone about the 1000's of shows you have if there's no way for anyone to get them because they already have everything you have. It's like putting out a great product in the window and then not allowing anyone to buy or trade for it. :mad: I have a pretty large collection too, and when I can't find anything to offer, I can imagine how it must be for the average Sam or Jane to get a trade in action who have just a couple series.

Hazel, what are you expecting Lamont to do - trade with someone, even though they don't have anything he wants? That's nonsense.

I trade with Lamont on a regular basis, many on this board do as well, despite the fact that both he and I have thousands of shows.

Well, goody goody for you. You must have the 9000th and one show he doesn't have. :p By the way, I wasn't referring to anyone in particular, this was just a comment that I'm sure many other people have asked themselves too. Why advertise you have 9000 shows when you can't do anything for anyone else who may want one or 2 of them? And no, I'm not expecting anyone here to start sending out care packages, it just must be very frustrating to the normal starting out trader to get shows from someone who has everything when they have next to nothing. There are a couple series I can think of that I wouldn't mind having, but even with my collection it's not enough to match the amount of episodes in the series I want. So I can easily imagine how this person feels.:wave:

Oh, I don't have to imagine how they feel. We all start with little in our collection, and somehow we figure out how to make it grow. But whining about it doesn't help anyone, and even puts people off.

Hazel--- if u ever read the FEEDBACK PORTION of this board- u will see that good old Lamont trades with TONS of people, i do about 10-15 trades a month, some small - some big, and i work with people to get stuff and try to be fair

now to answer a few points--- 1. YES i do have tons of stuff--- so NO i do not trade with people unless they have something that 1. i dont, 2. i want
that is just how it is

ALSO--- people CAN ALWAYS work something out if they want a set--- u cannot sell on the site-- HOWEVER there is no rule against TRADER X emailing TRADER Y directly and arranging a sale---- happens all the time

ALSO--- i often trade people stuff that many times people wouldnt think --- for instance i have been known to trade someone X # of discs for BLAH BLAH BLAH season 4 retail set---- or i even once traded for a bunch of WWE wrestling figures--- so im not unapproachable

ALSO--- there are MANY MANY ways for newer traders to get started---- as has been discussed about 10 times this month--- to recap

1. Spend some $ on an auction site to get a set that is new and in demand, and then trade the heck out of it--- FOR INSTANCE i know someone who had NOTHING last year--- they BOUGHT a set on ebay, that was new and cost a bit of $$$, then traded it to 10 people when it was hot--- and SUDDENLY they had a good trade list

2. TAPE shows that people dont have--- lots of shows are airing in local markets that noone has sets of--- and some of the common shows like BERNIE MAC, THE WAYANS BROTHERS and SISTER, SISTER and IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT, NYPD BLUE or WALKER TEXAS RANGER would be great sets to make-- NOONE has them

3. while i try to be fair and accomodate everyone, i simply cannot trade people for stuff i cannot use and dont have--- its not being a jerk, and not being high and mighty--- just common sense

NOW I KNOW u have a great trade list-- and to be honest- u have some stuff id like to snag, but it seems like u have the impression that some of us with bigger lists dont like to trade with new members- which is just not so

I do list new stuff i get in, and if someone asks, i reply if i have it--- whether the person asking has a big list like Hazel Anyday, Loren or Padre--- or just a small list--- i reply if i have it

if someone asks and wants a set i will try to make sure they get it
but sometimes, it just doesnt work out

and my message to---PrueHalliwell is, dont get discouraged--- i have only been trading about a year or so and i started off with a small list too, just be persistent and patient!

i have a lot more thanis on my list right now i am working on doing a new list as i got a new computer a few months ago and my list was on my old computer i am going to work on it today and next week and maybe i will put it on here who knows i may get someone yet !but i'm not going to hold my breath

HEY!?!?! i just remembered----- if u feel so strongly this way, do u recall about a year ago when SOMEONE was asking $125 a piece--- for 5 missing episodes of MY THREE SONS and wouldnt trade them or swap for ANYTHING AT ALL???? $625 for 5 eps of a show????? the eps turned up later on and the set got completed, but i remember a certain NEWBIE at that time, who asked someone with a LARGE LIST to swap for those and that giving spirit was lacking then!

Why do people keep putting words in my mouth I never said. It's happened twice in this thread so far. I never said you don't want to trade with people, I merely said the results of someone advertising they have all kinds of shows and then when someone wants them but doesn't also have a 1000 shows it's impossible for them to get them, because they haven't anything to trade. Get it? Simple, huh. So my point was and still is, what's the point in informing people of the 100's of shows one may have if you can't use anything from anybody else when they want something from you. Simply put, if you already have everything, how in the world is anyone else supposed to get something from you in trade. Now you say you do lots of trades every month, I don't see how since you have everything you want already. If you're doing sales, that's another story, but as far as trading is concerned, like the old saying for those that have everything, what do you give to someone who has everything already?

I do recall someone who kept constantly changing their mind on what it was they wanted and literally took months to respond to any answer I gave. Finally I figured the person was a nut and didn't bother with them anymore.
i dont want to get into a peeing contest here

but the way i recall the story is this

"SOMEONE" posted in the MY THREE SONS Board about having the complete set last year and a newbie emailed and wanted to trade for 5 eps of the show--- the 5 that were missing last year-- and the "PERSON WITH A BIG LIST-- WHO POSTED HAVING THE SHOW" wouldnt trade for it, and only wanted to sell and then wanted a crazy $125 AN EPISODES--- yes $125 X 5 for $625 for 5 episodes

I DONT WANT TO NAME NAMES HERE, but i think it was NUTS to post having a show to trade and then not trading for it, and wanting to sell 1 disc worth of eps for over $600

and YES i do TONS OF TRADES all the time--- in fact when u sent me your list, there was stuff i wanted to trade with you, however everything i wanted wasnt transfered yet so i had to pass

im not putting words in your mouth, just responding to them--- and since we have both made our points clear, why dont we stop this back and forth on Someone elses post? as it only distracts from what they wanted to put out there, and it is really unfair to them :wave:

Could it be you're feeling a bit guilty over something to take generalized comments so personally? As for your selective memory, I recall you first asking for the entire series, when I responded reasonalby I got no response. Then months later you asked for certain seasons, once again I responded reasonably and I got no answer. Then months later you came back & asked for only certain episodes, but those certain episodes just happened to be the 5 episodes it took me months and big bucks to find. My, what a coincidence. At this point I had grown weary of your less than honest tactics and asked for the moon for what you finally admitted to what you wanted.:) Yes, a selective memory is quite wonderful. Now please, I beg you, let's not take away any valuable space from the good people here who are trying to make a deal. It's so nice to be kind and considerate of others when you've gotten the last word isn't it?;)

And to Lamont, I honestly was not directing my original question or comment at you, but at everyone here who has a large collection and advertises such and then must enounter people with shows they can't use because they already have them. Such a simple point and it caused so much hub-bub. But back to the dickering now for Prune.

The problem really arises when one trader looks at another's list and notices that person is lacking a program that they possess. The assumption now bceomes "If they don't have it, they want it". Hasty generaliztion, maybe yes and maybe no. But some become quite adamant in their demands. " I want what you got, and you don't have this, so let's trade" Sure, some sellers will trade for most anything to replenish their stock and make for larger inventory but the collector thinks different. "Do I want It" becomes the prevaling thought. If not no trade.

Nothing wrong it posting your library, it's part of the trading process. But trading like any legal contract must have offer and acceptance. Not one saying "I want, so take from me"

I've gotten lists from other people telling me they want a program from me and that all I need to do is pick something from them. Well, trouble is I may not want any of the shows on their list, long or short. I really only collect shows I like, not everything under the sun, and most of my likes are of shows from the past. So when I get a list from someone that contains all shows from the 1980's or '90's to the present, I could care less. There does have to be a satisfaction on both parties for a successful trade. But the more shows you have must make it tougher and tougher to do a trade with someone, because you wind up having everything you want already. That was all I was trying to say from the beginning. Now, in my case I have a fairly big collection, but, by no means as big as many of the people here because I only want shows that I actually like and will watch. I don't want shows just to have them, but to watch and those I watch are all old and that's what I like.

Give you my take on this.

Pruehalliwelll bgan by posting two or threads minutes apart giving his wants. Lamont repsonded moments later by saying" I have same" Pruehalliwell now responded moments later with "doesn't anyone want to trade", and more then once. Sounds like begging to me. We have one trader here always looking for one original airing of this or that and never or rarely gets a response but he keeps coming back but not minutes later.

Hazel then decided to jump in and again my opinion was pointing to Lamont with his barbs about big collections and trading techniques.

So to sum up, Pruehalliwell began by being repetitous in his quest, which can be interpeted as whinning and Hazel changed the thought of the thread with his own agenda.

Once again, for the one zillionth time, I DID NOT DIRECT MY COMMENTS AT LAMONT!!! It was directed at EVERYONE, YOU, ME, all God's Chil'en with giant collections. Holy Cow, how many times do you people have to keep telling me "what I really meant" when I never meant it at all toward Lamont BUT EVERYONE with a big collection. :mad: And I've seen plenty of people on this board advertising their giant collections, the L man is only one of at least a dozen people here doing it. So PLEASE stop saying I meant it toward just one person, he wasn't even on my mind at the time, ALL of YOU were. GET IT? Or are you once again going to tell me what I was thinking, never mind that I know what I'm thinking and all of you are wrong who think you know better about what I meant than I do. :mad:

And to the one sad confused individual who can't recognize a whine from an astute and brilliant comment. Since when is it "whining" to merely make a distinguished observation. It is not a whine it is a comment, big difference. the problem is that 1. i posted a reply and 2. u followed it up with your comment directed at "people with big lists who dont want to trade for somethings" so the natural inference was that it was intended toward me
---- and when i replied that i trade with tons of people and to check the feedback portion, u commented that u didnt see how i could still be trading and commented that "maybe if you are selling...." and so on, so what do people assume?

also--- 3. i replied to you last month or 2 about possible trades-- however everything i wanted that you listed as having was "not yet transfered" so that is why it fell through, i was willing-- u were not able

and 4. i stayed quiet all day on this one, b/c pru... asked the comments to stop, but since u have posted several more times i wanted to clarify

noone was jumping on you, and despite what your intentions might have been, everyone who read it got the exact same impression, that you were commenting on me

and your follow ups seemed to drive the point home

Here I am the author of my tiny little comment, and I, the author have stated time and time again I was not referring to one particular collector, but ALL OF US with large collections who show them here to others. I know this may be hard to believe for some of you, but my every waking thought does not involve your apparent hero Lamont. And even more unbelievable my every simple statement is not directed at or meant to be about this same individual. Now even this individual apparently must think the world revolves around him and all statements or thoughts are of him, because no matter how many time I repeat and repeat I never ever ever ever ever meant my sweet innocent comment to be about this same individual the siccophants of this individual and even the individual himself still after all these clarifications STILL thinks I was talking about him. Now I ask you, how swell headed do you really have to be? My world does not revolve around this individual and though you people out there may think the world starts and stops around this person, I don't, I actually will go for hours on end without thinking about this person. Can you believe it? OK, I've had it, I'll say it one last time, my comment was made about ALL OF US, me included, with big collections who must deal with people with smaller or no collections. So innocent a comment, so brief, so simple, so innocuous, yet the siccophants and the individual himself insists on putting himself as the center of the universe and worse of my comment. IT WAS NOT MEANT TO BE JUST ABOUT ONE MERE MORTAL BUT ALL OF US, please try to imagine a world that does not revolve around this one person and maybe you can conceive of my comment for what it was. The only reason I ever was forced, and I repeat forced to mention this one person's name was because I was RESPONDING to false charges that were linking my innocent comment meant about everyone to just one person. P.S. Lamont just sent me a bunch of disks of wrestling shoot interviews of some of the past stars, speaking out of character and discussing the inner workings of the game. Looking forward to seeing that. As a kid wrestling was on in N.Y.C. every night of the week from a differnt part of the country. In those days it was territories. Sunday was from California and Jules Strongbow, Florida and Gordon Solie was wednesday. Friday was fom New Jersey, Thursday, the WWWF televised from Capital Arena in Washington. Can vividly remeber the big feud with Antonio Rocca and Karl Von Hess. My favorite was saturday night from Chicago, the Amphi theater and Jack Brickhouse announcing, Featuring Killer Kowalski, Yukon Eric, Farmer Grey, the Mighty Atlas, Art Neilson, Reggie Lisowski and Benito Gardenia. Lots of fun and was allowed to stay up late. Before getting married I took my wife to be, one saturday night to Madison square garden to see my favorite all time wrestler, the original Shiek in a championship bout against Bruno. Of course Bruno won but the Shiek was the best at getting the crowd riled up. Pointed boots, fire thumb, fork in his belt, and that Camel trot was priceless.

Wrestling is my shameful little obsession right now. Everyone I know thinks I'm crazy for liking it. If you think of it as a soap opera where people get hurt though it's quite fasinating. It is kinda sad that as a 25 yr old girl I know most of the wrestlers you were talking about. My boyfriend has been into it since birth and got me into it. I love going to the WWE shows but my favorite is Windy City Pro Wrestling, mainly because it's like a family, we know all the wrestlers and all the regular fans. Tomorrow is ECW in Racine. If only my #2 boyfriend (Matt Hardy) had left WWE to go to ECW, it would have been wonderful. Don't worry Harvey, you're boyfriend #4 now.

When I grew up, folks still thought wrestling was real, and boy did the fans go wild. Some of the "heels" really knew how to drive the fans nuts. WW2 was recently over and we were experiencing the "cold war" with the Russians, so many of the early villains were Karl Von Hess, Hans Schmidt, Hans Herman, Baron Von Rascke, Mr. Moto, Toro Tanaka, Mr. Fuji, Kolo Kwaraini, Ivan Koloff, etc. Before it became politically incorrect each territory had a Indian wrestler, who would do a war chant before pinning his opponent. Chief Don Eagle, Chief Jay Strongbow, and Whaoo McDaniel. Then of course to capitalize on the Iran crisis, along came the Iron Shiek and Sgt. Slaughter, who began his career as a bad guy but would now save America. Dressed in Military garb and of course saluted the flag. Never spent a day in the service.

Enjoy the wrestling and maybe I can show Savage a few wrestling holds I know. I know I can wrestle Savage in a "falls count anywhere match" My only stipulation is that I want it to be a 30 fall match.

Nope, sorry, bf #3 is a windy city wrestler with lots of Tattoos. I go for the bad boys, why do you think you're number 4? :) Sgt. Slaughter has been around a lot lately and Tatanka is having a match tonight I believe. My "real" boyfriend is native alaskan so he loves all the old native wrestlers. No matter what anyone says, even if the matches are scripted, the pain they endure is real and that's what facinates me most.

P.S.- My "real" boyfriend has learned not to let me watch too many wrestling dvds in a single sitting, that's when I start breaking out my wrestling holds. It's really hard for him to break out of them when he's laughing at me :)

ivan koloff, tully blanchard, kamala, terry funk, dusty rhodes, jj dillion, the rock and roll express, the midnight express and more making appearances---- of course they have slowed wayyyy down and its not magic like it used to be
but still good to see the old guys still doing it!

You see, when someone else brings up a word and accuses you of talking about that word that you never ever mentioned or meant, then you must use that word when RESPONDING to their accusations. So I had to refer to you as you quoted because I was RESPONDING to others who brought you into the subject that I mentioned that had absolutely nothing to do with you as an individual at all. You see? There's really nothing evil going on here. I made a simple little innocent statement and then YOU and your loyal followers all accused me of talking about you. When I RESPONDED to the accusation I naturally did have to then talk about you whether I liked it or not. Hence there's your answer to you many questions you had for me. You see, I was RESPONDING to others, therefore I was forced to use your name in my RESPONSE to others & yourself who brought YOU into the equation you never had any part of to begin with. Just as I am now forced to talk about you because I am again RESPONDING to you about you. Now you could come back and say, "Hey, you just talked about me. How can you deny it?" Well, you see, the only reason I am now talking about you is that I am RESPONDING to you about you. I've got 4 boyfriends, he can have his three girlfriends (plus we can't forget the wife). And I hate breaking nails too but lucky for me my sister works in a salon and I get services dirt cheap :)

No,no,no, let's forget the wife. She has her TV shows to watch and Tivo is not working. Now, the jello pool is pretty big, and if your sister is interested, I'm sure we can work something out.

Interesting you say that. I went one day to the third Gotti Sr. trial. It was early in the direct and kind of dry but still interesting. Plenty of big burly guys in dark suits with tons of jewlery.

Now do you consider that a kindly remark? Here I was, once again trying to be nice, as I have in several of my messages, which you seem to ignore, only concentrating on the more colorful ones, trying to be nice not being insulting but explaining for the umpteenth time that I never had you in mind and you come back with another series of jabs and insults, all the while playing the poor innocent victim role of the bad old meanie Hazel. As for the names, I suggest you ask yourself what would you call someone who thinks all comments are made about himself? (swell head). What would you call someone who repeatedly doesn't get it when you explain over and over what you said and meant (thick, simple). And as for the ass remark, it was your assumption I was calling an ass, not you. Read carefully before you jump on that victim wagon.

Now you keep repeating over and over as many times as I tell you and your followers are wrong, that "everyone" else thought this and so did you. OK, let's just say that's true, even though I know not "everyone" thought that. But let's say it's true, it shouldn't matter to you what 100 people thought if the source himself tells you what he thought. I don't care if 1000 people all have the same mistaken notion, it's still mistaken and it's still wrong. Especially when the source of the comment himself tell you and the 1000 people over and over that you're mistaken and wrong in you assumptions. Does it not make any difference to you that the source himself is correcting the mistake of those who are telling you what the source meant and what the source said? You heard it from the horses mouth over and over what the horse meant, and still you keep referring to all the people that were also wrong besides yourself. As if if a 100 people are all wrong, well it must be right. Never mind what the source says what he says, believe the 100 mistaken interpreters of the source instead. So I guess we're just in 2 different worlds. I take people for their word and believe them when they tell me something and you'd rather keep repeating your and your friends mistaken and wrong conclusions. What the source himself says be darned, you're going to believe only what you first believed and nothing will ever seep into that skull except your own first mistaken notion. So I can only say, believe what you will, obviously nothing I the source says makes a bit of difference. You'll just go with what you want to believe and no amount of facts can change that. So believe whay you will, I can't do anything more than say you're wrong, even if a 100 other people also agree with your wrong notions. They're all wrong and so are you, who would know better than the source himself. But I suppose, you just say, what does the source know about what he thinks, I know more. Apparently that's the way you must believe, for after 1000's of corrections to your wrong notions you still can't accept the truth. But I am not mad at you, and I'm not mad at your wrong headed buddies. I think the real truth here is you’ve all been on this Sitcoms board too long, you're all a universe unto yourselves now and anyone outside that little world seems to speak a foreign language when you can’t understand the simplest of statements. I have nothing against you as I've stated before and I still don't. I just can not understand why you can't believe somebody when they tell you you're mistaken the first tiem they tell you that. OK, I wish you all a good weekend, and a more open mind and a trust that when someone tells you you're mistaken you'll believe it and not continue to repeat over and over your wrong conclusions.:cool:

You and your ilk have all been tossing the put downs at me all along, most of the time I ignore them, sometimes I respond and put you in your place. But I guess it's easier to put yourself in the victim's role if you only read one side's insults and ignore the other's.

I'll make a broad statement. EVERYONE, not some, not a few but EVERYONE wants you stop your long winded, lengthy,endless thoughts. At this point no one cares if your right or wrong but like a screechy record it doesn't end. I tried to switch it to wrestling, running after the girls etc. but you won't stop.

As the expression goes"all things are not created equal" There are two different types frequenting the board. One is the trader who collects or trades for things he or she enjoys. If you have something that interests them they are more then glad to trade with you. Most have specific interests, it may be a time frame, in my case the 50's and 60's, or it may be a particular type of show, comedy etc. The second type is the trader/seller. In most cases this person trades in order to have larger inventory to sell. They have no interest in retail as they can get at any time and want if possible full run as it's easier to sell. When you offer a item for trade, the thought of will I enjoy it, is not paramount but "can I sell it" If you have something that they believe is not on other lists they will trade with you. Most experienced traders know what's on most lists, what isn't so common and can act accordingly. Trading is a two way street. You want but you have to offer something in return. To the trader, another series, to the trader/seller, a series or cash.
