ION Media Networks Announces Programming Agreement for Extensive Line-up of Theatricals and Television Series from Warner Bros. Domestic Cable Distribution

“Superman III” To Kick Off Schedule Saturday, July 1st

(West Palm Beach, FL – June 27, 2006) – ION Media Networks, Inc. (AMEX: ION) and Warner Bros. Domestic Cable Distribution announced today a comprehensive programming deal, providing ION with the rights to broadcast popular movies and classic television series from Warner Bros.’ extensive library on its flagship i television network, reaching over 90 million homes.

“We are very pleased about this important programming alliance,” said Brandon Burgess, CEO of ION Media Networks. “Given its depth as a content supplier, Warner Bros. is a natural fit for our network, as our current viewers look to us for classic, family-oriented TV fare. We hope to expand this relationship over time, tapping into Warner Bros.’ diverse library to broaden our network’s content appeal and demographic positioning.”

Under the deal, ION has acquired the broadcast rights to a number of Warner Bros.’ most popular television series and movies. Series include classic shows such as “Welcome Back, Kotter,” “Chico and the Man,” “Scarecrow & Mrs. King,” “Mama’s Family,” “Alice” and “Wonder Woman,” and more recent hits including “The Wonder Years,” “Growing Pains,” “Perfect Strangers” and “The Wayans Bros,” among others.

The vast selection of movie titles available to ION includes Academy Award winners for Best Picture “Amadeus” and “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” and other hits, such as ”All the President’s Men,” "Police Academy 2", "Giant," "Oh God," "Rio Bravo," “Dead Ringers,” “Dog Day Afternoon,” “Rebel Without a Cause,” “2001: A Space Odyssey,” “Superman,” “Network,” “Shaft,” “Victor/Victoria,” “Empire of the Sun” and “Beetlejuice.”

The stable of talent represented in the deal is truly stellar, and includes Johnny Depp, Robin Williams, Tom Hanks, Clint Eastwood, Nicole Kidman, Al Pacino, James Dean, Paul Newman, John Wayne, Harrison Ford, Jack Nicholson, Marlon Brando, Mel Gibson, Dustin Hoffman, Denzel Washington, Elijah Wood, Whoopi Goldberg, Charlton Heston, Meryl Streep, Steve Martin and of course, Bugs Bunny. Directors include master filmmakers such as Alfred Hitchcock, Oliver Stone, Sergio Leone, Blake Edwards, Steven Spielberg, Tim Burton and George Lucas.

“We're delighted to be in business with the new i network and are confident that they will reap the proven audience-building benefits of popular features and TV series to drive ratings, attract sponsors and build the network's brand," said Eric Frankel, President of Warner Bros. Domestic Cable Distribution. “With our robust library of titles and ION’s large network of TV stations, this is clearly a win-win situation for everyone involved.”

Targeting its portfolio of content toward the i network’s current family-oriented television audiences, ION will kick off its Warner Bros. movie schedule with “Superman III” on Saturday, July 1st, coinciding with the weekend’s motion picture release of “Superman Returns.”

ION will begin scheduling the Warner Bros. television product in August on i.

I agree. I'm really looking forward to it. FINALLY it's back on TV. (Granted, it was on TV Land/N@N in 2002/2003, but eh ... it was only a limited run of a handful of episodes).

I got so pissed at Nick@Nite...they'd convert new episodes, air them, then start all over. They got up to like episode 57 only. 1-57, 59 and 63 I think. I want to see the last two seasons! Haven't seen them since original air date. Luckily, I'll be getting the ABC versions soon.

Great year for PS...In2TV, a great website coming very soon, and now reruns coming to the i. Only bad thing is WHV scrapped the TV Favorites DVD!

According to SitcomsOnLine, the ION network held a presentation/meeting and Bronson Pinchot attended. .. While this looks positive for Perfect Strangers, no announcement has been made yet. .. If we keep voting on the ION Poll, we'll let ION know that we really want to see Perfect Strangers back on TV.

I just bought these on DVD from bing on sell.com

Overall, they are decent in quality with the older ones being the worst it seems -- I think some are actually from the original broadcast to be honest.

With ION airing these again I'm going to record them and re-make these dvds I think. It looks like they're going to air in order, which is awesome. So should only take half the year :-\

I see a minor schedule change for ION on the 29th of October, but a good one for Perfect Strangers: 2 back-to-back airings instead of 1. So now it'll be on from 8:30-9:30 PM instead of just 8:30-9. I'm assuming it's still Mondays-Thursdays, but since the channel guide over here only goes up to the 30th, that's about all I know for now. On top of the DVD news, and now this, I'm so happy, I'll do the dance of joy. :p

nocomments: It will be just on twice on Tuesday, October 30 at 8:30 & 9:00 for a Halloween themed marathon. Fright Night and Aliens are airing that night.

probably might be an error on the guide, cause on the 29th, it has "The Horn Blows at Midnight" listed for 8:30, and "Lethal Weapon" for 9:00. Looks like a weird jump there (season 3 and then season 8), but that's what's listed for me. Oh well, either way...as long as it's on the network in some form, it's all good.

Pavan
10-18-2007, 12:13 AM
Interesting, the grids ION sent out doesn't show that. Only the Halloween themed night. I'll check in with them. What listings are you looking at?

Pavan
10-18-2007, 12:24 AM
OK, I overlooked it. I am looking now and I do see "The Horn Blows at Midnight" and "Lethal Weapon" on Monday, Oct. 29 from 8:30-9:30. It is part of a two-night Halloween stunt. The regular schedule is back Oct. 31.

Thanks for noticing. I'll blog it tomorrow.

Okay, now I'm confused. I believe you that the show has been pulled from the network's line up. However, I checked the TV listings at Yahoo! and it says that they are airing the Halloween episodes tonight and tomorrow. Then on Wednesday, they're airing "Dog Gone Blues" and on Thursday they're airing "Since I Lost My Baby." So I guess what I'm wondering is when exactly will this happen? Will, this week be it? Or did Yahoo! TV just make a mistake and now it's already off the air? Someone please let me know what's going on. Thanks.

Pavan

Yahoo! is not updated. Go to ION's website. They removed the show's show page today. The show is being pulled starting tonight. The Halloween episodes aired last Wednesday and Thursday, so why would they air again tonight and tomorrow?
Did you read our blog? http://www.sitcomsonline.com/blog/2007/10/ion-television-november-perfect.html

We get ION's official schedules when the listings get it. So we are faster in putting it up.

Anyways I started a thread on how to contact ION Television -- if you haven't already, please send ION a message letting them know you want Perfect Strangers back on the air.

Yeah. I checked the blog. But I'll check out ION's website as well. Again, I believe you and all. I'm just surprised that 'Yahoo!' would make a mistake like that. They're usually pretty accurate. But I guess that happens every once in a while.

Anyway, thank goodness for the DVDs. Besides, that might be better than ION's airings of the show anyway. At least they won't have as many edits or long commercial breaks.
