It's been raining so hard here in the Northeastern PA area! We live right by the Susqehana River and I took some pictures earlier today of how high it's getting. It's supposed to keep raining, possibly 2'' per hour until Thursday! Our river is supposed to crest at 34' I believe. People are already packing up and leaving. I hope we don't have to. I aint leaving my puppy.

That's why I aint leaving! haha They won't let you take pets. And I'm not leaving my baby. If this flood is coming, it'll take us both! :D

I used to live in a town that was below sea level and the floods there were bad, but not quite as bad as what you are having. I remember one time my aunt's apartment got flooded, she lived on one of the really low lying streets.

We got a lot of much-needed rain over Friday-Monday here. Since we have been having a drought there was no serious flood problems, but we had about 10" which ordinarily would cause big problems. Anyway, the only time I've experienced a serious flood on my street was about 10 years ago when a creek overflowed and flooded the lower part of it, only about 2 houses down from where I lived. We used to own a golf course in a low-lying area(surrounded on 2 sides by creeks), and even when we only got 2-3" of rain, it would overflow onto our driving range and we'd have to shut it down for days at a time.

Aww thanks Irene. That's my cat Rhett (as in Butlet haha) He's a maine coon. Sorry about your cat. :bighug:

My puppy's not outside. Oh god no, I don't leave my animals outside! lol It was raining so hard that it was hitting the roof and she could hear it and it was scaring her lol.

My dog is terrified of thunderstorms. Whenever there is thunder he gets really scared.

Oh great! Everyone in Luzerne County (where I live) is being evacuated. It's mandatory if your house was affected by the 1972 Agnes flood, and we didn't live here then so we don't know. My mom's on her way home now and she's going to ask the fire company right next door. This is getting freaky.:eek:

My thoughts are with you, Kelly. We actually had a terrible tornedo here in 1972. Well, I probably should not use the word "we" since it was four years before I was born.:lol: I've heard it caused lots of flooding.

Update everyone! My street does not have to evacuate. We asked the fire chief and he said the Agnes flood did not hit our street so we should be safe from this flood. The power might go out but that's it so I might not be online. I'll give updates as much as I can. I'm on my way to the bridge now to take some more pictures! I'm an adventure gal. ;)

The news is filled with the flood news. I'm glad you didn't have to evacuate. You can't even drive anywhere.

Everywhere there is muddy waters. Luckily I got to drive around and I got to go to McD's.

Nope we can't drive anywhere either. We can't even get my sister, who was at work when the bridges closed so she has to stay at my grandma's house till Friday.

I was telling my boyfriend "THERE'S KELLY...THERE'S KELLY" and he looks at me like, "WTF????" LOL

i told him abt you and your pets and how one is not able to take their pets out. I said, "imagine if we couldn't take our dog out." He said, "Screw that, I would stick him in my coat or something, I ain't leaving him behind."

It's been flooding here too, not as much as there at all, but there are definitely floods. My best friends mother just moved into a house about an hour away from here, in Little Falls, NY. I heard on the news that they'd recieved 19 FEET of rain. I was appalled. Also, my other friend is on her way to NYC and they had to leave at 5 am instead of 7:30 am because parts of the thruway were closed due to floods.

Well good news is that our river crested today at 33.7 feet. It SHOULD be going down now but we're still in the evacuation zone.

Oh Irene, you're awesome!! I love when ppl mention me but your boyfriend prob thought you were nuts! :lol: But thank you Irene's boyfriend!!! It was awful. The pets were not allowed to get to the shelters but they said pets can go to the SPCA, but there was no way to get there! All the bridges were closed!! I told my mom from the begining, I'm 17 years old, I'm old enough to make my decisions. If we have to evacuate, you guys go, I'm not leaving Bailey. She is..the best thing that has ever happened to me. She is my best friend and I can't leave her! My mom just smiled. :) Luckily, we didn't have to leave. :) Thank you everyone for your prayers. The worst is over, but we're still in this. It should be over soon. :wave:

I am thankful that I have never been in a situation where I had to decide abt my pet. They are our children too. I love my Duke. He is a gift to me from my boyfriend. I love Duke to death. I swear, I know my boyfriend, if he had to sneak Duke out somehow, he would. Or like you said, he would stay behind with the dog.
I am sooooo glad that it has eased up, even for a little bit. The weather has been crazy...here i am complaining abt the heat and humidity, but what can one do when it's flooding???? Stay safe Kelly!!!!!!
