If you're in front of a TV, it's on right NOW. (The show, that is.) They announced these three will appear during the broadcast.

Yeah, the BET Awards don't do anything for me except giving the spotlight to these no-talent bling-bling artists nowadays.

I think Jimmie, Ralph and Bernadette were really surprised when Janet walked out. It was nice to see them all together like that. Bernadette still looks good. Ralph looked a little worn and Jimmie looked swollen...LOL Wonder why Ja'net wasn't there?

I hear that. "Here is a trophy to so and so for their hard work, blah blah blah..." waaaay too many awards shows nowadays. It's like, if BET didn't have these awards, these artists won't get any recognition??? Pleeeeeeeeze.

Yeah but it's mostly hip hop and rap, and it's being reconized by your people. It's the same with CMA and the LMA.

Being hispanic i don't even care for the Alma awards...how stupid it sounds when they say things like "Best Actress in a movie..." and there are only three nominations. It's pathetic because I would rather see those actresses being nominated with ALL KINDS OF ACTRESSES, not with their own race. Stupid. Worse, hearing "Best Actor in a tv show..." and there are maybe three names and you know pretty sure which one is going to win because the other two are not so famous or the shows are crappy...they are only being nominated because of their race.

When you’re recognized by your own people, it's different. Like with the VMA's and the AMA they might not have certain categories or what not. They might not pay homage to certain people who others might not know, care about or acknowledge. It doesn't matter if there's 3 people in one category or 20, your getting recognized for your hard work.

Not like she did on the BET awards

yeah, but she was also "heavier" all around...not thin like in the 70's...some women when they age get heavier, especially after giving birth to kids their bodies become fuller. But to be honest, it looked weird and funny. Not naturally "bosomed". The dress didn't seem to fit her well...it almost looks like it had artificial padding sewn into the bosom area...just didn't look right somehow. But Bernadette is ALWAYS BEAUTIFUL IN MY EYES.

I think she had a pushup bra on or those chicken culets, they will push your girls up some when you have those in.

I agree with you, Brieannas21. A lot of the Black rappers and other artists/actors don't get recognized on shows like American Music Awards and MTV Video Music Awards. Halle and Denzel paved the way for actors like Jamie Fox and Terrance Howard to even get nominated and win. So whenever BET airs their awards show, I always tune in. And it's not always about race, either.

Exactly, there was a time when rap/hip hop wasn't even part of the AMA and when it was finally recognized they didn't even air that part and they gave the artist their awards behind the scenes.

Yes, Bernadette is a beautiful woman, and she looked really nice on BET. I think her dress fitted her nicely.

I feel the same way about the Academy Awards. We know that Tinsel Town is filled with talented actors and actresses but the ones who still get the most recognition along with the award are Caucasian actors. Samuel L. Jackson, Angela Bassett, and Don Cheadle in my book are the most underrated actors out there. Yeah, they may be household names and may have played some powerful roles in their careers but the closes they ever got to an Oscar was a nomination. Penelope Cruz and Selma Hayek are also very talented actresses who take the craft seriously. Selma Hayek’s performance in the movie “Frida” was awesome and that movie along should have received an Oscar instead of just a few noms. So I agree with the fact that talent should be valued all across the board.

But Black Entertainment Television (BET) was strictly created to showcase African American talent which was not showcased much at all on any television station. The station main focus is on African American achievements through music, film, art, and sports. It is no different from the Telemundo network that showcases Hispanic talent. Since the bling-bling, pimping & hoeing, and gansta thug rappers became so engrained in our culture, I no longer have the desire to watch those award shows but would have liked to see the cast from GT.

I agree wholeheartedly especially with your last sentence. I agree abt the movie FRIDA. What a wonderful piece of art that movie was. I get so tired of seeing actors/actresses being "robbed" of their place in Hollywood history. Angela Bassett should have WON THE OSCAR for her portrayal of Tina Turner. That was a RIP-OFF.
The bling-bling and pimping and hoeing thing has marred what could be a wonderful showcase of hard-working, talented musicians. It is beyond words.

Here is a picture of the cast at the awards. It wouldn't let me save the photo on my comp.
