Have you ever watched WH and wonder where you've seen an actor or actress? Have you ever watched GT and wondered the same thing? You have seen an actor or actress on either of these shows!:) ;) Lots of actors and actresses played on both of these shows!

I have some actors and actresses

1.Thalmus Rasalda played Ernie on GT, and Raj and Dee's father and Mabel Thomas's ex-husband on WH!

2.Theodore Wilson played Sweet Daddy Williams on GT and a bootlegger on WH!

3.An actress who played JJ.'s crush in an episode called "My son, the lover," played a stupid girl that Raj is tutoring in one episode on WH!

4.I know this is not the same actor, but a guy who played in "Thelma Moves Out" on GT(The guy with the tarantula) bears a striking resemblance to Ernest Thomas, who played RAJ on WH!

5.Shirley Hemphill plays Roz, one of the sisters who rob the Evans family in, "Rich Is Better Than Poor.........Maybe", and she also plays Shirley the waitress on WH!

I didn't understand why did they have people playing two different rolls on the same show. For instance Thalamus played Ernie, and in another episode he played Flo's boss who took her to the Japanese rest.

Also, I don't remember man who got engaged to her but he was too old. But he later came on and played their uncle Wilbur.

The guy that played Eddie that was taking Micheal's lunch money and then turns around and plays one of the Satin Knights gang members.

Don't forget they were both concepts created by Eric Monte. He was initally supposed to produce both shows but we all know happened.

He also appeared on the Jeffersons...there are many crossovers for that show as well. It seems they jumped from GT to WH and then The Jeffersons. Or Sanford and Son, GT...etc. etc.

Is this thread about actors and actresses playing similar characters on Good Times and What's Happening? Because Hal Williams played a hot tempered father of a boy J.J. was giving art lessons to on GT, and a hot tempered cold landlord to Raj and Rerun on WH.

The word "rappoport" is misleading...but yes, it's abt the same actors/actresses appearing in different sitcoms of the 70's. Mainly, GT and WH.

The social worker from season five and six was also on Whats Happening as Mr. Turner's wife on the episode where Mabel is wrongly fired for stealing.

This guy appeared on Good Times in the beloved Judith Cohen story...WILLIAM PIERSON...he was the guy who owned the club, Marty
Mitchell.

He also played Dean Travers on Three's Company

He played a bartender in Diffrent Strokes

He was in One Day at A Time, All in The Family and Facts of Life.

No, he wasn't on What's Happening.

I forgot in that same episode of Whats Happening I mentioned earlier, Teddy Wilson who played Sweet Daddy on Good Times, played several guest characters on Whats Happening. He was on that episode as the black card player defending Raj and the gang. He also played a con artist trying to con Shirley out of money over the cookies in season three.

There were alot of actors and actresses that played in many of the Black sitcoms from the 70's. Remember John Amos played in the episode "A visit from Lena" on Sanford and Son. Also, the guy who played Eddie (Lunch Money Rip-off") also played Dewayn's opponent when he was running for Class President. Janet Debois appeared as one of Fred's old Flames in Sanford and Son. The girl who Raj was tutoring that everyone thought was pregnant also played one of Sanford Arms tenants. Thalmus Rasalda played Skeet Mathews in Sanford and Son. Haywood Nelson played Grady's grandson. ect.

yep. we had gone through all those before. I just want to know why did they recycle these actors?? I can't believe there wasn't enough black actors to fill the parts.

He did NOT play the con artist in Shirley's cookies.

Right, he [Teddy Wilson] played the bootlegger in the Doobie Brothers episode (I didn't like that part 2 was pretty much a 20-minute concert with some acting at the end). His conniving roles stood out much more than the other roles he had, so I've never really cared for him. The last role I saw him in was as the owner of a diner on The Golden Girls. It was the Christmas episode in the second season, where he asked the girls to keep the diner for him for 30 MINUTES (what kind of off time is that?) while he went home to spend Christmas with his family.

Good Times, The Jeffersons, Sanford and Son and What's Happening!! all borrowed actors from each other, some of them returning to play different characters (Chip Fields played both Shirley's and Rerun's sister on What's Happening!!). Maybe there was a shortage of black actors in the 70s?
