Okay. here is my situation. We have 2 computers in the computer room. One runs Windows XP and the other Windows 2000. We share a printer (a HP LaserJet 1320) via a Data Switch. The XP is A and the 2000 is B.

My problem is this, if somebody tries to print on the XP and the switch is still on B the XP will not print without having to reboot even after turning the switch back to A. I've even cleared all print jobs out of the printer memory and then turned the printer off then back on. Any ideas or is this just one of the quirks with XP?

depends on the switch, printer driver and how the computers are connected...

i would honestly suggest adding a print server to your network (assuming that both PC's are connected somehow) and connecting the existing printer to that.

XP is a 'plug 'n play' operating system - if you try to communicate with a device that is mysteriously not there it is not going to like it.
