What's even stranger is that Fonzie wasn't even in the first season opening credits. It was just Richie, Potsie, and Mr. Cunningham.

He wasn't the star. The three mentioned are what the show was geared around. Eventually we know later that changed.

If you notice Erin Moran's name isn't even mentioned in the credits in the first one, "all the way." I heard its because she got the part at the last minute and had replaced somebody else who played Joannie who was also in the pilot episode in which the gang buys the first tv set.

To clear a few things up that were mentioned in this thread:

1. Henry Winkler and Donny Most were added to the opening credits at the start of season 2.
2. Fonzie moved in above the Cunningham garage in the season premiere of season 3.
3. Ron Howard, Marion Ross, Anson Williams, and Tom Bosley were in the opening credits for season 1.
4. Erin Moran was added to the opening credits at the start of season 3.
5. Erin Moran is credited in the closing credits of "All the Way."
