hi, if the dvd player has outputs, then take the cables that you connect it to the tv with and connect the outputs of the dvd palyer to the inputs of the vcr. be aware that if it is a store bought dvd, then you will probably not be able to copy it because of the copy protection. thanks

And Do not forget to set the vcr to input mode before you record.

This can usually be done by pressing the channel up/down buttons on the remote till INPUT pops up on the tv screen.

I'm having problems copying a tape that I have. I'm using a TV/VCR and a regular VCR. Because the TV/VCR only has input, I'm actually putting the original in the regular VCR and copying from the TV/VCR. I've figured everything out, but no matter what I do, I can't get the audio to come up on the copy. The video is there, and the audio input/output are connected and the same color. Does anyone have any idea as to what might be wrong? Thanks!

Do you have a 2 or 3 input/output connection? If it's a 3, there is a red, white and yellow. 1 is for video and the other 2 are for audio (one for each speaker). Are you sure there is not an output on the TV/VCR? Unless it's real old, I believe there should be one. Anyway, whichever one you are copying to has to have all connections to the inputs and outputs for teh ones your are copying from.

Also make sure the tape does not have copyguard on it before you copy, or your copy will look disgusting. And if it is copyguard proteceted, you can buy a thing that you plug into your vcr that makes it possible to make a dupe.

I'm not sure how old the TV/VCR is, maybe 5 to 6 years old. There were only 2 input/output connections on the VCRs, and everything was connected and matched up according to colors, etc. I've made copies before, but with a different VCR that doesn't work anymore. Could the problem be with either the standalone VCR or the TV/VCR? Thanks for the help!

It sounds like a bad connection. If everything is hooked up properly, my guess would be the problem is with the TV/VCR combo. My suggestion is get a cheap VCR. You can get them now for about $30.00. New ones should have 3 inputs/outputs. Hook one VCR to a regular TV that has both input and output. Run cables from the output on one VCR to the input on the TV and run another set of cables from the TV output to VCR #2 input. If there's still a problem, I'm at a loss.
