I do things like that sometimes. I don't mean to do them or anything, it's just a habit. For example, when my toenails are really long and I wear sandals, I have a habit of trying to break my toenails off by digging deep into the cushion part. It sounds pretty st:eyes2:pid. :lol:

Well, I guess there are exceptions. There are some truly whack people out there. But bulimia/anorexia is quite common now-a-days. I think it's more out of shallowness then real 'mental' problems. Some people just happen to have a VERY distorted image of what's attractive, I guess. Which is what drives them to do crazy, unhealthy things to be thin.

Yeah I know, for real. Lol I always told myself I was gonna stop. But everytime I caught myself doing it again and I was just like.. ok one more time then that's it. But it was always one more time. I don't do it anymore, but it took a LONG time to see that there was no point.

oh please. As a fat person, I can say I know my image is not socially viewed as attractive. ANYONE can be anorexic or bulimic. I sure as heck am not. So it's just an act of obsessiveness and stupidity. The pressure is there for every living human being who is conscious of their looks. We CHOOSE whether or not we give into them and let them break us.

It isn't as easy as that. It doesn't matter how good your "judgement" is on what's rational or irrational, that's all thrown out the window if your brain is forcing you to think otherwise. It's like it overrides whatever makes sense. You just do it because you can't control yourself. I think it's comparable to an addiction.

Yeah, but your brain isn't just one big ball. There's different parts to it and some parts can work fine while others don't. The part of your brain that tells you the difference between right and wrong is a different part than the part that controls your physical actions.

Well then how come I get random URGES to sanitize my hands when I've already done so 13 times in a row? I know that's kind of silly in comparison to some other things we've talked about, and I really hate using it as an example, but little things like those are what makes me understand what other people must go through with more serious problems.
