Do you think time travel will ever be possible?
I'm not sure. I'd like to think it will be, though.

View Full Version : Will Time Travel ever be possible? Sharop 06-21-2006, 06:25 PM Do you think time travel will ever be possible? I'm not sure. I'd like to think it will be, though. Central Perk 06-21-2006, 06:26 PM Sadly no. TJL 06-21-2006, 06:35 PM I would like to think that someday time travel will be possible, but it will be a while before we can sort out all the scientific and technical stuff. Sharop 06-21-2006, 06:45 PM I'd like to think that someone will invent a time machine someday. I believe in the possibility of time travel...maybe if technology keeps improving, then one day... Dutabi84 06-21-2006, 07:22 PM No. I don't think it'll ever happen. Sharop 06-21-2006, 07:27 PM Has anyone, in a burst of inspiration, ever attempted to build a time machine? I once tried to, using a calculator (for typing in the year I wanted to go to) and some other stuff. But it didn't work. Dr. John Becker 06-21-2006, 07:28 PM It's not gonna happen, sorry. swedeace 06-21-2006, 07:31 PM Do you think time travel will ever be possible? I'm not sure. I'd like to think it will be, though. I very much doubt it. There would just be too many complications would be my theory. Nighthawk76 06-21-2006, 09:24 PM I believe so. Mr. Television 06-21-2006, 09:27 PM I sure wish it were possible. I'd be like Sam Beckett on Quantum Leap. James"Thunder"Early 06-21-2006, 09:29 PM Hard to say. On one hand it seems impossible, but on the other hand, you don't know if advances will be made to do it. gilligan fanatic 06-21-2006, 09:31 PM I don't think it will happen. If it did though I would go back and bring my DVDR and tape GI episodes off of CBS from there original airing-lol Mr. Television 06-21-2006, 09:33 PM I don't think it will happen. If it did though I would go back and bring my DVDR and tape GI episodes off of CBS from there original airing-lol Heck Matt. You can go to the set and visit Mary Ann. Mijada 06-21-2006, 09:35 PM I don't think so. It would be cool but it will never happen. gilligan fanatic 06-21-2006, 09:36 PM Heck Matt. You can go to the set and visit Mary Ann. Even better. Except instead of the set I will go to her house :D I wouldn't have to worry about fighting Fleet of because he would only be 3 or 4 at the time-lol swedeace 06-21-2006, 09:40 PM If it did though I would go back and bring my DVDR and tape GI episodes off of CBS from there original airing-lol Hmmmm.... speaking of - Just daydreaming about the possibility brings forth some devious thoughts. If I knew certain things that I know now, I would focus on those few things and change a couple of those things. http://server5.dedicateduk.com/~ace/thb/smilies/15.gif http://server5.dedicateduk.com/~ace/thb/smilies/65.gif Hollow 06-21-2006, 10:39 PM i once went back to 1955. everybody was on fire. robyrob 06-21-2006, 11:44 PM i went to the future. you're all dead. Fleet 06-22-2006, 02:00 AM Even better. But don't underestimate 3 or 4 year olds. :D I could always jump in the time machine just as you are getting in. ;) Anyway, I know her address and you don't. :p Mr. Television 06-22-2006, 02:07 AM Hey, no fair! Marty McFly went back to 1955 as well. :) Did you bump into Marty and the 1955 Doc Brown and Marty's parents George and Lorraine and the bully Biff Tannen? Also, did you get back to the future via a bolt of lightning? gilligan fanatic 06-22-2006, 09:48 AM Hey, no fair! But don't underestimate 3 or 4 year olds. :D I could always jump in the time machine just as you are getting in. ;) Anyway, I know her address and you don't. :p I guess I would have to bring you along because I don't know where anything is in CA. I get to go in first though since it was my idea. ;) Yeah, that's what I said when I first saw the photo. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/wink.gif  Chelsea 06-22-2006, 10:14 AM I've always - always - love the concept of time travel. But recently, I got to wondering about the subject, and after thinking it about it quite a bit...I don't think it's possible. In fact, I've begun to wonder if time itself actually exists, or if it's just an artificial construct designed to help us deal with and understand change and progression crystals 06-22-2006, 10:35 AM I think it's possible. Not while we're in our physical bodies here on earth, though. I think we'd have to be in a different state. Whether that state be spiritual or astral or whatever. If you ever read books that have to do with quantim physics Stephen Hawking has written some great books that talk about time travel. Some stuff about particles that can go into black holes and actually can come out of white holes and can travel back to an earlier time than when it entered the black hole, which is now being realized may not be completely black. Sharop 06-22-2006, 01:18 PM For those of you that have said no, is it because you don't believe in the concept of time travel itself, or because you don't think we'll ever reach a stage where we the technology to achieve it, or to work out how to do it. Fleet 06-22-2006, 02:56 PM I guess I would have to bring you along because I don't know where anything is in CA. I get to go in first though since it was my idea. ;) I should be able to go first since I'm older. :p But, true, you will need help in finding her. Or you could just go to the CBS studio and wait for her to show up. gilligan fanatic 06-22-2006, 05:43 PM I should be able to go first since I'm older. :p But, true, you will need help in finding her. Good point, I could pick her up from there in my car. http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d62/gilliganfanatic/Ultimate%20GI%20Page/Gilligan20Mobile.jpg Fleet 06-22-2006, 06:03 PM Good point, I could pick her up from there in my car. Whose car was that, anyway? I guess it belongs to whoever built it which would probably be Gilligan. Yeah, Mary Ann would really be impressed with that car! Notice that she never did ride in it. Dutabi84 06-22-2006, 07:04 PM For those of you that have said no, is it because you don't believe in the concept of time travel itself, or because you don't think we'll ever reach a stage where we the technology to achieve it, or to work out how to do it. I'm optimistic with the black holes and such, but I don't think within the existence of mankind on Earth, that anybody will come close to building a time machine, much less figuring out how to physically move a human being through time. gilligan fanatic 06-22-2006, 07:11 PM Whose car was that, anyway? I guess it belongs to whoever built it which would probably be Gilligan. Yeah, Mary Ann would really be impressed with that car! Notice that she never did ride in it. It was Wrongway Feldman's he didn't need it anymore on the island he landed at. Maybe your right, Mary Ann would like this car more http://wesclark.com/am/hillbillies.jpg Mijada 06-22-2006, 07:24 PM For those of you that have said no, is it because you don't believe in the concept of time travel itself, or because you don't think we'll ever reach a stage where we the technology to achieve it, or to work out how to do it. Both. No matter how far technology advances, I just don't see how we would ever be able to go back in time and see events that happened 40 or 50 years ago. I guess I could see someone inventing something that would go fast enough to go into the future but I don't see that happening for several hundred years. theshark8777 06-22-2006, 07:25 PM Einstein said you would only be able to go forward in time right? Something about going the speed of light slows time, so while it may only take a few seconds to get there, time may have progressed hundreds of years. (kinda like flight of the navigator) If anything I can see that happening, but as for a vehicle that goes back and forth, as much as I would love to go back in time, I can't see it happening. Besides if there was time travel, why hasn't anyone visited here yet? Mr. Television 06-22-2006, 08:10 PM Einstein said you would only be able to go forward in time right? How do you know they haven't? theshark8777 06-22-2006, 08:31 PM How do you know they haven't? true, but it would be funny to see your future self walking around, like Doc Brown in BTTF! Howdoulikemenow333 06-23-2006, 01:31 AM It would be great if we could, but I beleive we have other deminsions that other beings can time travel through port holes through space also. A lot of you don't beleave in UFO'S and time travlers,or out of body experence ,but I think we are not ready for it yet, someday we will, I just really don't know how it will work, for example, I could be in the year 30009,or I can come back and see my self typing this. Fleet 06-23-2006, 02:05 AM Maybe your right, Mary Ann would like this car more Yeah, if she were a hillbilly she may. Sharop 06-23-2006, 03:37 AM A lot of you don't beleave in UFO'S and time travlers,or out of body experence I believe in those things. :) Race's Girl 06-23-2006, 05:18 AM You guys have been watching the Back To The Future trilogy, haven't you? Sharop 06-23-2006, 08:15 AM You guys have been watching the Back To The Future trilogy, haven't you? I love it. :) gilligan fanatic 06-23-2006, 10:05 AM Yeah, if she were a hillbilly she may. Ok, what about this one http://www.zyworld.com/markperkins/batmobile2.jpg Fleet 06-23-2006, 03:46 PM Ok, what about this one Now that one she would like! Mr. Stefani 06-23-2006, 04:12 PM i once went back to 1955. everybody was on fire. oh man i was coming in here to say that Czas na Zywiec 06-24-2006, 01:48 PM it's totally possible. like someone said about, if you can get someone in a ship to travel faster than the speed of light, time on earth will progress much faster than time on the ship. so travel forward in time is possible but I don't think it's possible to go back in time, or else someone would have already done it and be here now. However, creating a ship that will allow someone to go faster than the spped of light without ripping apart their bodily organs and fluids is another thing. that might take a while to create, but the concept is totally possible. |
