New York City’s WNYX is on the air --* and off the wall! Tune into New York City radio station WNYX if you like your news straight…and your comedy utterly off-the-wall! In its fourth season, NewsRadio captures the screwball absurdity of office politics with one of the funniest ensemble casts ever assembled. Dave Foley (TV’s “Kids in the Hall”) plays the overworked news director of WNYX who has to rein in a team of misfits. But office clown Matthew (Andy Dick) won’t act normally, ambitious producer Lisa (Maura Tierney) won’t back down, duct-tape obsessed handyman Joe (Joe Rogan) won’t stop “fixing” thing…and irrepressible anchorman Bill McNeal (Phil Hartman)…continues to talk just a bit too much. (It’s just too bad Phil Hartman would be permanently silenced during the offseason after season 4).

Wow... Season 4 at last. It was my first introduction to NewsRadio, which became my favorite show of all time. The cast commentaries were spectacularly entertaining, as always, and the gag reel just priceless (watch Lovitz and Hartman!). I wish it had been twice as long, because I'm sure there are hours of 'delicious' (to use a McNealism) outtakes and dialogue flubs, which only make the actors even more endearing than they already are (if that's even possible). Joe Furey's One-Man NewsRadio was even more hilarious than the last one, and I can't wait to see what he did for the last season. Honestly, I could watch a whole season of that! :-)
It's too bad they couldn't bring in Khandi Alexander, Lauren Graham, or Brad Rowe, but it was great fun listening to the cast reminisce about the show. I particularly enjoyed their discussion of NewsRadio fans on the internet. It's nice to get props as a fan or webmaster, and I just love Vicki for saying nice things about my site. But the whole joke about naked pictures of her... so untrue! I have only the utmost respect and admiration for Vicki, and would never do such a thing! She also gets kudos for pronouncing my last name correctly, which most people seem to have trouble with! :-)
And finally, Paul Simms has opened the door for the fans to ask their most burning NewsRadio questions. The e-mail address that he gave is: newsradiodvd@yahoo.com The reward for sending in your questions is the honor of being mentioned on the next (and last) NewsRadio DVD set. So get writing, everyone! :)
