Mine has shut down randomly and without warning twice now. It immediately restarts on it's own and then it's fine.

it doesnt get any errors after it restarts? it doesnt give you a message saying that it has recovered from a serious error?

update and run your antivirus and antispyware programs, post a HijackThis log here if you think it is finding anything, otherwise...

this could be heat-related, do you have an air conditioner near the computer?

Go buy some canned air, shut the computer off, unplug everything, open up the case and blow all the dust out (may want to do this outside). Make sure you blow all the dust out of the power supply - it is normally near the top at the back of the case - the power cord plugs into it. Be careful if you are blowing out the processor fan, you may want to hold the fan with a pencil to prevent it from spinning as you blow it out, so it doesnt damage it.

if you feel comfortable doing so, you could try reseating the RAM (http://www.djonmac.com/ram/removemods.html), just make sure you ground yourself or discharge any static electricity and only touch the sides of the chips. RAM chips expand and contract with changes in temp, and sometimes they can partially work themselves out of the socket so it may help to just take em out and put em back in again.

if you are too close to the air conditioner, it can actually form condensation inside your PC's case - this is a very BAD thing, so move it farther away if possible.

I'm leaning towards overheating right now. If it does it again, I'll check for spyware. It does not come up with an error. It goes off like it would if the power goes off, the screen just goes black, but the power button light stays on and within a couple of seconds it is restarting.

It was fine last night and all morning, but about a half-hour ago it restarted on it's own while it wasn't being used.

i honestly dont see anything bad in there, you could try uninstalling the Google Desktop and toolbar, i have heard of it causing some conflicts in some people's systems, or you could try runing an online virus scan at

http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan?NRMODE=Published&NRORIGINALURL=%2factivescan&NRNODEGUID=%7b3B202047-35D4-4DA2-B310-B1DBEC2971F2%7d&NRCACHEHINT=Guest

or

http://housecall60.trendmicro.com/en/start_corp.asp

but i still think that it is a heat issue

This is what I get when it shuts down suddenly now:

http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;897079

It works fine for hours at a time and then during the evening shuts down several times, and then is fine after 10pm once again. It's very bizarre. Everytime I tried to run a virus scan earlier it shut down.
