TMC 08-11-2026, 07:16 PM uX7GKlcOgXY If you grew up watching Disney Channel in the late ’90s, chances are you remember Bug Juice — the strangely addictive reality show that followed real kids spending their summer at camp. But looking back at Bug Juice today, the show feels very different. Long before Survivor and Big Brother turned reality television into a phenomenon, Disney was already filming real children dealing with homesickness, friendships, crushes, arguments, and some incredibly personal moments. Behind the seemingly simple summer camp series was a massive production capturing hundreds upon hundreds of hours of footage and shaping real childhood experiences into television storylines. In this video, we’re going back to Camp Waziyatah and exploring the strange history of Bug Juice — how Disney found the campers, how much of the show was really “reality,” what happened behind the scenes, and why the original series has become so difficult to watch today. We’ll also revisit one of the biggest mysteries in the show’s history: the sudden disappearance of Eve from Season 3, and the account she later gave about what happened that summer. Was Bug Juice an innocent snapshot of childhood, or an early reality-TV experiment that we would look at very differently today? Let me know in the comments: Did watching Bug Juice make you want to go to summer camp, or did all that cabin drama convince you to stay home? And what forgotten Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, or ’90s TV show should we rewind next? Thanks for watching Dial-Up Days — and as always, keep the memories alive. |
