I've been fighting a cold all this week, and when I went to buy some cough syrup I began to wonder about something? Why do kids get all the good tasting medicine? Why do adults have to suffer with horrible tasting stuff? I'd love it if a company make an adult strength medicine that actually tasted good. Maybe I'm just bitter because I was forced to take liquid NyQuil growing up :barf: man that stuff is just nasty. The only medicine that tastes good are Ludens cough drops, the mixed berry kind.

If you think that stuff they have for kids ACTUALLY tastes as good as they claim, then you've got something else coming.

Hey, I used to love the taste of original Triamedic as a kid and I never minded Dimetapp's grape flavor either.

I've never had medicine that I actually enjoyed the taste of...no matter how they try to claim how great it tastes.

They say "cherry", you taste cherries mixed with RAT POISON.

If you thing that cough/cold syrup medicine tastes bad, then you've never been to a 3rd world country and tried Powdered Deer P3n!$ as a way to cure a nasty cold/flu.puke:

I like adult medicine better than kids medicines. You just can't mix a good taste with something disgusting.

Am I the only one that thinks the "tasty flavoring" in those children's medicines actually make them taste worse?

I don't think medicine should flavored, makes it even worse tasting. But, since kids hate medicine, they make special kid flavors so they'll take it.

Hi,

Well the original Triaminic, for kids was great. Esepcailly loved the original Rootbeer, and Orange flavors. Unfortuantely though they dropped Rootbeer, than when they changed some of their ingredients their new ORange tastes like ****.

This thread reminds me of something that Niles once said about his never-seen wife Maris on Frasier. Frasier's agent, Bebe Glazer, was trying to quit smoking (unsuccessfully) and Niles said he recognised the gleam in Bebe's eyes that meant she was hungry for a cigarette, then added:

"It's the same look Maris used to get during the cough syrup years."

Maris was addicted to cough syrup!

She was also too light to activate a whoopee cushion, she couldn't produce saliva, she thought her chocolate allergy entitled her to park in handicapped spaces, she was able to hide behind her breadstick in a restaurant, and she went into a stomping vat to stomp on the grapes, jumped up and down in a fury, and was unable to break even a single grape.

The dayquil/nightquil stuff doesn't taste too bad, I find. But, some medicines like Buckley's. Yuck! I also hate grape flavored medicine. Who else prefers the cherry or orange flavors compared to the grape?

You know, Coca Cola used to be a medicine (I think that was back when it had cocaine in it, too.)

Coke is a medicine I think I'd like. I drink quite a lot, anyway. Although, I imagine, since it had cocaine in it, that it would probably have been used to treat illnesses such as depression (since cocaine is a feel-good drug.)
