Yes, it's unfortunate that ratings dropped. But it's still an excellent show. At least, I think it is.

And God likes it.

Do you like it at all, Solomon?

Oh, have you never seen it? I didn't know that. But I get the impression it's not repeated a great deal in America (and currently, I don't think it's being repeated anywhere on British television.

I haven't seen enough eps to judge the show

It's a masterful show. Taxi- Season Two was arguably one of the top ten television seasons of all time.

That's a good thing. :) I think it's wise to give each show a chance and not judge it by just a small number of episodes.

I seem to remember you saying in a post, Solomon, that you didn't really like zany characters much - it was something like that, anyway. The character of Jim is very much zany, and I guess Latka is, to some extent, however, I think they're both great characters (Jim, particularly - he's my favourite) and the show doesn't rely on madcap, zanu humour - and many of the characters are very normal - practical Alex, Elaine, etc. Plus, the offbeat characters are very three-dimensional, they're not shallow - Jim emerges as a really kind soul, always trying to do nice things for other people.
