Hello!

My Colleague and I are conducting some research into the
side preference people have when sleeping in a bed together. As well as comparing the situation in real life we are looking at the portrayal of this decision in sit coms. Can anyone help with this? We need to know the side of the bed (i.e. screen) the male in heterosexual couples occupies when viewed from a standard end of bed camera shot. Data on as many sitcom couples as possible would be appreciated.

I'd say men are on the Right more.....Cosby was on the right, Doug from King Of Queens was on the right...Raymond was on the right.....Al Bundy...those are the only one's i've got....

Howard Cunningham was on the right, actually so was Laverne from L&S.

Archie Bunker was on the left, Oliver Douglas was on the right, Rob Petrie was on the right (of course, Rob & laura also slept in single beds and somehow manged to have a son!!!:lol: :lol: :lol: )

Thanks for your suggestions on side of bed choice in sitcoms.

An initial look at the first few results suggests there is no clear gender bias in this choice in sitcoms.
Interestingly our survey of real life sleeping arrangements finds that 2/3 singles (male or female) prefer the right hand side, but approximately 2/3 women occupy the right in a couple, strongly suggesting a controlling influence of women in this decision.
