I been trying to find info on this but can come up with anything but it's very surprising CBS didn't want to renew Brent's Contract and he was the face of CBS Sports from 1975 to 1989. If anyone remembers I would really like to know why

Brent Musburger was gaining to much power behind the scenes of CBS Sports. He demanded that he do the play by play of every major sporting event that CBS conducted. His salary also skyrocketed to 2 million dollars annually which was unheard of back then. CBS Sports President Neal Pilson felt threatened by Musburger's power and demands and fired him, feeling that he could be replaced by younger talent at a cheaper cost.
